The girl I am engaged to tells me that she smokes sometimes.
This contradicts culture in my house. Honestly, I have not seen girls in India smoking on the roads nor females around me does that. But at the same time, I am a reserved person as far as females are concerned so don't know their habits much.
I asked the same question to her. She says smoking is quite amongst Indian girls even though all of them does it openly.
Now I ask you the same, is this really the case ?

Its not very common in India for girls to smoke.. I've seen rich girls near my office area smoke but thats it. If u r a simple type of guy, then I think this girl may not be right for u. Its ur decision. But if she is a smoker, I'm sure she's not gonna give it up. And many households in India would not like the idea of having a smoker d-i-l unless they r the hot-shot rich class people.

I am indian and a model and also a career girl working for many companies.
Just be frank to her and ask her if she will change. Smoking means drinking and in turn having sex.
I am from india and I agree with the culture. But you need to know more about her to make a decision.
Dont marry right now. Take a year or 6 months to get to know her habits. If she is the kind of girl who has dated before or into free fun then you need to think twice about marriage.
I appreciate she has been honest to you, so you need to give her a chance and see if she changes. If she changes then its fine or if your heart says NO I AM NOT HAPPY dont marry and suffer after that.

I feel sorry to say this but it is a bitter truth.
Nowadays few indian womans have got this habbit of smoking but it is not quite amongst the indian girls.Most of the Indian womans are sensible enough to understand the fact that they should not smoke as it brings a bad impression among the people who actually see the woman smoking, it also includes relatives,parents, freinds,etc.For woman smoking is very hazardous as it brings pregnancy problems and can also affect the unborn child.Thats why u havent seen any or rarely have seen any woman smoking at public or private places, so advice ur fiance to get rid of this habbit bfore its too late, as it affects her and ur future.

It is common with her culture and every culture in the whole world? Why? Because its addictive and it will claim anyone, man, woman or child living in India or Tembucktoo..Many girls in India do smoke but they do it in secret and in open. It's your decision if you want to marry someone who will smell like smoke in her hair and clothes and probably won't live a long life and will be unhealthy...Plus, when you kiss her you will beable to taste it.

Times are changing and yes girls do smoke just like men even in India..they may do so away from their family..but they still smoke.

It's not a big issue.Some girls smoke occasionally and that too over a drink of Vodka or Baccardi but rarely in the open.If you like the girl otherwise,ignore it .She shall come around to the ways of your family.
