You can have mutual respect for both teams, and maybe even want both teams to do well.. but its not possible to be a die hard Yankee Fan and die hard Red Sox fan at the same time.

I did it for a even as. I was once born a Yankees fan and continuously were. But I lived in Boston for approximately 6 years, from 88-ninety four and the Sox have been beautiful well and I acquired into looking them. The Sox have been within the playoffs each different yr, and even though they'd many flaws, Boggs was once mighty and Clemens was once God-like and who could not love Dwight Evans. The Yanks were not quite in rivalry any of the ones years, and once they performed towards the Sox, I rooted like mad for the Yankees. But nonetheless I felt responsible rooting for the Red Sox different instances considering the fact that it might harm the Yankees possibilities. And then I made a massive discovery - regardless of whether or not or now not I rooted for the Red Sox, it had NO EFFECT ON THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME. That largely alleviated my guilt. I even fell in love with and married a Red Sox fan.

Not if you want to live in Boston or NY.
P.S. "themadchemist" said that his roomate is the fan of 2 teams, the red sox and whoever beats the yankees, well, I am in the same boat, but incase the game is still being played, I like the red sox and whoever is playing the yankees.

I am a huge Yankee fan, and I hate the Red Sox. My 8 year old brother loves the Yankees but the Red Sox are his 2nd favorite team. He doesn't know or care about the rivalry though.

I grew up a Yankee fan and still am a die-hard Yankee fan but I lived in Boston in the late 80s, early 90s and they Yankees stunk and the Sox were good. I went to a lot of games at Fenway and was immersed in Red Sox talk in the media. I actually rooted for them. They had some great players like Boggs and Dwight Evans and Clemens. I rooted for them but I didn't feel like dying when they lost like I do with the Yankees.
And when they played head to head with the Yankees there was no question where my allegiance was.

Well, being originally from Maine I'm always a die hard Red Sox fan even though they've let me down every year, forever except for ONCE. However, I must say that Derek Jeter does have a really nice ***. Even if he does play for the Yankees. So I guess maybe I like something about both.

Absolutely not. If you like the Red Sox, then you hate the Yankees. If you like the Yankees, then you hate the Red Sox. As for me, I like the Yankees, so I always have and always will hate the Red Sox. You can't really call yourself a true fan if you also like the rival of your favorite team.

Its possible if your a chick.
I know it sounds sexist, but I honestly know girls that are fans of both the Orioles and Yankees or the Phillies and Mets or other division rivals. But, I think that is because they don't really care about the teams they just know them because they are close to home or have pretty mascots or some crap like that.
But, anyone who actually gives a crap about their team couldn't possibly be a true fan of any other team. Personally, I am a huge Braves fan and although I want the rest of the NL East to play well I HATE them all, I just want them to not suck so I can say Atlanta is the best team in the best division.
So no, no one can truly be a Red Sox fan and a Yankees fan.

Lol, such a rhetorical question. Yankee fans can't be Red Sox fans. It just doesn't work like that. Go Angels!!

from a true die-hard baseball fan's point of view- theres no such thing as being a red sox fan and a yankee fan.
from a person who knows barely anything about baseball and never watches the games- then yea sure i guess.
