Absolutely! If not RidX one of the other commercially available products on the market. I prefer a product call Septi-Free, but have used RidX when my local store was out of the Septi-Free.
Use it liberally compared to the directions on the label. A one quart bottle of Septi-Free suggests it is a two month treatment, but I will occasionally use the entire quart, depending upon how much soap and chemicals have been going down the drains, and how many people have been in the house, showering, washing dishes and laundry etc.
I spend between $50 - $75 / year to treat our septic system but it is just one of those necessary evils life deals us.
A couple of times a year we get a post card from a local Septic servicing company that reminds us that it has been 22 years since they pumped out our septic tank. And we are having no problems with it. I can only deduce we must be doing something right.

No, all you need is to dump a container of fat free plain yogurt down once a month or less often, and get it pumped and inspected every 3-6 years (or more often if your municipal code requires it).
I got this advice from a septic tank service company ... the biology in the tank is what's important. Also, having green grass growing over the tank rather than trees or driveway seems to be important, too.

In all hobesty a quarter cake of bakers yeast will do the same thing much cheaper your septic tank has have microscopic organisms that live in it and feed off the solids this keeps the tank from crusting over so you do not want to poison them try the yeast and see what you think

I just had my tank pumped and asked the technician if I should use a product like Ridx. He explained that all the bacteria needed to keep the system working properly is already there. He said that I could throw the money in the tank or send it to him and it would be just as effective. Bottom line, bacteria breaks down the solids and it is present in the waste and the tank. It doesn't benifit from Ridx. Maybe in a new system to help get it started.

monthly, I don't know. probably not. about every three months should do, depending on severity of use and the number of people using it, what's being flushed, so forth. once a month would probably be for very heavy usage. you might could go once a year, I don't know your situation. many things come into play, like how well your soil perks, and how good the drainage field is laid out, many things.
Simple solution is to go ahead and use it once a month. it's certainly cheaper than one time having somebody come in, dig it up and fix it.
