Been married almost 40 years and determine never to have a dishwasher!!
Strangely, it was the first thing all our children bought when they each set up home!
I think the time taken to prepare each plate before putting in the washer, the time taken taking everything out again and rubbing any marks off any item that needs it, plus the electricity and water consumption....well, I would have got everything back in the cupboards long before the machine was even getting to the rinse stage!
Besides, if there's more than one of you, washing dishes is a pleasant way to pass the time together. If there's only one of you...it would take a long time to fill a d/w.
I'm pleased that you're pleased to have got one, but I'm happy without and I feel like i'm doing a little bit to help against global warming in the process, not to mention reducing my electricity and water bills.

I have one, but I dont feel the dishwashers wash the dishes very good.
And I dont find it smart or time saving since yo still have to run the dishes under running water and rinse them before yo put them into the dishwasher...
So why not just hand wash it, you are already doing it if you think about it.
I have a 400k custom home, and I have used the dishwasher twice in 6 years
I prefer to hand wash and make sure they are clean

Not only do they save time, but they use about 5-8 gallons of water per cycle. This is probably 1/2 of what people use when they wash by hand. I do not know what I would do without mine.
If you need any advice to what to buy or how to effectivly use your dishwasher, check out the link below. (theres some humor to it too)

I'm in a similar situation. They are fantastic. I get a bit annoyed when some things cant be put in it though and I have to wash them by hand !
I noticed that as I'm not using my dishcloth as much now it can get a bit rotten very quickly so a good tip is to put it into the dishwasher when you are putting it on. It gives it a real good clean and kills the germs !!

At the current time I do not but where I live doesn't have one in the apartment, but the apartment I lived in before had one but I never used it. I have never liked how they got the dishes "cleaned" so I did them by hand. Granted I did not live with anyone else but even if I did I would still do them by hand.

I don't have one myself, but my friend would reccomend having 2!!
one would be to load up as normal with dirty dishes that need washing, and the other to store the clean dishes in after they've been washed.

I only wish they had been more available when our kids were at home. What a labour and time saving machine, pity I can't get the car in!
