The guy that wrote A Walk To Remember also has movies like The Notebook, Message In a Bottle, ect... His name is Nicholas Sparks. All his books are romance, and pretty much has the same sad ending.

A Walk to Remember is a GREAT movie!!
If you want one that is a million times better, you will cry even more, with no comedy, you should try "The Phantom of the Opera" I know it doesn't sound like it would be a movie like you are looking for, but every girl (and even some guys) I know LOVE that movie!!!!!!! It is the best movie I have seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, "Love Comes Softly" with Katherine Heigl. It will have you crying from 10 minutes into it to the very end!! It is also a good romantic movie with no comedy!!
Enjoy!
Have a nice day!

THE NOTEBOOK. it is one of my favorite love stories. i cried at the end of the movie.
i also recommend LOVE AFFAIR starring warren beatty and annette bening. the film tells the story of a couple who fall in love during a chance encounter, and promise to meet again in six months. The meeting does not occur, however, because the woman is injured and is unable to make the rendezvous.
