C.N.C. stands for "Computer Numerical Control". It is the way some machine tools are operated. A program must be written by the machinist either in "G code" or posted in a form of Cad-Cam. Loaded to a machine, either a lathe or a mill, and the machine then cuts the parts.
Usually a good foundation in the machinist trade is needed to merge into the C.N.C. machines. If anyone tells you different... their wrong.
To get a basic understanding of the trade, see if you have a trade, or vocational school near by and speak to the instructor.
I've been in the trade for 24 yrs.... It's a decent living... Good Luck...

It's a machinist that can set-up and run a CNC (computerized numerical controlled) machine. Usually trained in a trade school or on the job.
