My g/f has a 99 Chevy Blazer. And this morning she called and said it started up, ran for about 3 seconds then died. When she went to start it again nothing happened. No radio, lights or anything. When I got home, I simply reached in and hit the brights. They came on for a second or two, then shut off. I got my keys and tried to turn it over. The lights and radio came on for...guess..just a second. She also said she heard a click. The alternator and battery are brand new. Less than 3 months old. Please any suggestions would be great!

Try cleaning the connections to the battery terminals. Also check to make sure they are still connected. If that is not the problem it could be the voltage regulator.

It sounds as if you have a big voltage drop somewhere in the battery connections. I would first check for cleanliness and tightness, both of the battery connections. Then check for the same thing on both of the grounds that go to the block and the fender. This leads to checking the power connection to the starter. Some of these also had a power connector underneath the battery tray where it would corrode and get loose. You have to remove the battery and the tray to access this. Good luck.

The oil might desire to be leaking from everywhere. you will possibly desire to get under the truck and notice the place it relatively is dripping out. as quickly as you spot the place it relatively is coming from, take it back to the mechanic who rebuilt it and tell him to restoration it. you probably did get a guaranty, i'm hoping? in case you be conscious of the place the oil is coming from he won't have the skill to BS you approximately it. Edit a million changing a gasket with a much better priced one? If it became put in good at the start it does no longer be leaking. Edit 2 Oil won't leak from the chassis. it relatively is dripping onto the chassis from someplace up above. Edit 3 gasoline cleanser won't keep your engine from damn. If the device keep shaved your heads or did some thing else to develop the compression ratio, you're able to might desire to run with a much better octane.

my guess would be the electrical part of your ignition switch. the blazer's are famous for it. when all your lights come on the car will start. if nothing is coming on on the dash it won't. if you battery cables and battery are good then i say ignition switch. seen it too many times in this business.
