Why are it that our own women, despite so-called friendships, allies, exhibit no real respect towards other women, much less our own males in this country?

It has become a social norm for women to act like spoiled stupid little brats. We can thank the media for making sure that the young think that acting like some notable celebrities is good rather than bad.

Also I have noticed that self-respect and self-esteem is sorely lacking in todays females. If you do not have respect for yourself, you cannot respect others.

I agree with Rebecca on the self esteem issue. No one seems to have it anymore, certainly not women anyway. We women are a very torn lot these days, feeling guilty for any decision we make- Should i get married? Should i have kids? should i stay home with said possible kids or should i work? I mean think of all the pressure from the outside world, mixed with what you think is best for you (which many of us aren't sure about anyway.) Women feel very guilty about whatever choice they make, and when they feel guilty they get DEFENSIVE. When someone is defensive they end up perpetuating the cycle of guilt to other women who have chosen differently. (IE: a working mom who tells her sister in law she works SO much harder than she does because her SIL stays home. She has said this because she feels guilty leaving her baby all day and has now caused her SIL to feel hurt and even more defensive for the next time the subject comes up.) Not a snowball's chance of women ever supporting each other, if you ask me. The working women might stick together, and the stay at home moms might stick together. And that's if we're lucky.

Can you specify?

I'm not embarrassed by anyone else-- I can't account for or change their actions.
