I think they'll be hard pressed to even make the playoffs.

I personally think that the Sabres will do just fine without Drury Briere and if you are refering to Zubrus as the third person they will do just fine without him too he was only on the team since the trade deadline and he was only ment to be a rent a forward if we didnt win the Cup the Buffalo Sabres i think will do just fine look at who they still have Miller is still improving his game Vanek is going to improve and Roy as well they are also going to get more time on ice same with Pomminville we even have Stafford now as an Official Buffalo Sabre and all these guys are going to have more responsibility so therefore that means more time on ice which means more goals which means more wins so i think the Buffalo Sabres are going to do just fine and dont forget even if guys do get injured we still have those very talented players from rochester to help out look at what They did for us last year when injuries where happening almost every game we were still winning games so my thought of where they will land in the eastern conference is probably 2,3, or 4 depending on how other teams do Lets go Buff a lo

Well the Hawks got rid of 3 star players in the 90's after their cup run and haven't recovered since. Yeah other players contributed on Buffalo like people above have been saying, but I don't think u can recover from that. What team can for that matter? They might sneek into the playoffs get knocked out 1-2 round. Hard pill to swallow sabres fans, trust me I know, but I did and it sucks. But knowing their management isn't as BAD as the Hawks, they can trade for a decent player before playoff time and who knows then. I think it just boils down to wishful thinking on a sabres fan part being in denial.

i think they will be ALRIGHT.
i don't see them winning the division. they MAY finish second behind Ottawa if their cards fall in the right place.
i really, really, really want to know what's going through Larry Quinn's head when he throws Briere an offer four days before the UFA open season begins. Ditto Drury. Zubrus was more of a rent-a-player, and i don't think anyone saw him getting a two million dollar raise over last season.
Buffalo needs to stop this "no contract negotiation during the season" clause. it's childish, extremely counter-productive, and you will end up losing way more free agents than keeping.
unless you're teppo numinnen.
the way the Vanek situation played out was an absolute fiasco. people are ready to blame Kevin Lowe from Edmonton, and if you do, fine, that's your thing.
sign your free agents. don't let other teams do the bidding for you. because the Sabres let the Oilers do Vanek's bidding for him, he's making more than a 1000% (yes, thousand per cent) raise for the next two years. not bad for a kid who made 942K last year, and ten MILLION this coming.
i know he scored 40 goals last year (and great for him and the team), but now that he's going to make TEN MILLION next year, he's more than expected to pick up the slack of Drury and Briere.
in short, good luck this season. if Vanek (and Miller) stays healthy, you'll be okay. get production from Derek Roy (who's also enjoying a hefty raise) and hope that Tim Connolly doesn't get bruised up.
85-90 points
second in division
6th in the conference

I think they will be good as they have been in recent years but their days of being a powerhouse are over for now. I dont see them coming out and winning 10 games to start the season again, but we will definitely see them in the playoffs and i can tell you this much, no one is going to want to play them. They lost a lot of good talent but they still kept quite a bit and despite what everyone else thinks i believe that Buffalo was more than just Drury and Brier. I think they will finish middle of the pack in the conference maybe 4 or 5 and will still go at least to the second round of the playoffs

the sabres were not a 2 man team. zubrus wasnt even on the team until right before the trade deadline and even after that he didnt make a big difference. the sabres were also good because they had depth. they had 4 good lines, but now they will have only 3 good lines. i say they will finish in 5-6 in conference. i just hope they will step up their game in the playoffs. as long as they stay healthy, they will still be a good team.

To be honest, as a sabres fan, i think they will do good again cause them making the playoffs is not a worry. They have alot of young talent. One of the best teams as far as average age is concered. And besides the sabres have always been the best in the playoffs when they flew under everyones radar unlike last year where every team was out to beat them. "This to me is known as the President trophy's curse" They are a good team when it comes to the upset factor look at when they made it to the finlas against dallas, none picked them to make it that far, for example

The Sabres will be fine.
Zubrus is easily replaced.
Tim Connolly will replace one of Drury and Briere. I think the continued maturation of Kotalik, Pominville, Afinogenov and Vanek, along with a complete year of production from Connolly will ease the loss of Drury and Briere. The team has two solid scoring lines (when you add Jochen Hecht as a scoring
I think people will be surprised at how little this team falls in the standings..

It took more than those 3 guys to get them where they went last year so the team isn't a total loss but it will be hard for them to replace the scoring and leadership provided by Briere and Drury. Sabres will struggle to make the playoffs. Could get as high as 6th seed. Unless of course, they find a significant centre to add to their team.

well thats like asking if the Phoenix Coyotes are going to win the stanley cup this year...
but they lost their leadership and their heart and soul of the team, they lost both their captains and a good scorer, its not right what Darcy Regher did, he should have jumped at the chance to sign Drury and Briere, but he didn't and he let them get away, honestly i give them 4th in the divison and 12th in the conference, i give them no better then that, because mistakes always come back to bite you in the behind, and i think Mr. regher is gunna pay for those 3 crucial mistakes, Buffalo is defenently not gunna be the same team they were last year, at least it gives the leafs a better chance for a division title...

They will survive this, they still have some good talent there and will make the playoffs and could well pick up reasonable free agent going into the playoffs to help out. But they're not going to be able to finish ahead of Ottawa.
