There is a question earlier this morning from a poster who says that they read Kate McCann saying at the weekend that she would not like to return to their home in the UK even if Madeleine is found as she has unhappy memories there.

I have tried searching the net from Sundays newspapers but am not that great at archiving.

Just interested to read it if it is true.

Toietmoi - I read your answer on that question. Thanks for providing your link again, but the independent was not one of the papers that this poster used in her question. She said the Mail, News of the World and Sunday Express. Thanks for your answer though x

Faith - whilst you and I have differed on our feelings about the whole Madeleine case, I cannot bear it if people post information that is factually incorrect. If she comes up with a link to an actual quote then I will stand corrected happily.

I don't think anyone will be able to provide you with a link saying she "would not like to return to their home in the UK even if Madeleine is found as she has unhappy memories there" because it's a mis-quote that is now being touted as an actual quote.

News of the World interview with Kate McCann http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/story_pages/news/news2.shtml it's the same interview in all the papers.

How can they ask the child to be brave when god knows what is happening to her. I wish they had told madeleine that they regretted leaving her and her brother and sister alone for the whole of the holiday. I really do think that the McCanns should be grateful that only one child went missing that night for an abductor could have taken all three he had the time to. My thoughts are with Madeleine I feel so sorry for that little girl. But my feelings of blame are shifting back towards Robert Murat, he was there watching and saw everything that was happening. Happy Christmas Madeleine wherever you are.

ok shells, after reading that question i retrieved my NOTW and have the quote to hand.

it states ' But Kate admitted she doubts she'll ever be able to return to the family home in Rothley, Leicestshire, because of the memories.
''I cant bear the thought of it,'' she confessed. ''At the moment we feel happier stsying here, closer to the investigation.''
''We don't know where Madeleine is, we don't think she's in the UK but there's nothing to say she's any further from therethen she is from here.
It is a gut feeling. i'm arare that there are probably things that would be easier at home, but at the moment this is the right thing for us.''

to be honest, that i cannot find the part you refer to but i haven't read it all as being told how to bring up my child by these too makes my blood boil - (im refering to their 6 Point Plan) so it could well be in there

Lourne if you don't like the Mccann questions don't answer them.............unless of course your only after the points.....

As for the question it makes ne sence for themt o say they want to stay where they are to be close to the investigation.....at different point in the last 100 days both of them have been further from the investigation than coming home would have bought them..
Rubbish....they havn't come home because they at first feared the back lash from Social Services...then the money came flooding in and it made sence to say they we're staying in Portugal to "leave no stone unturned"....then we've watched them not so much as touch a pebble.
They've never gone to where Maddy's so called sightings have been......to put up thier posters......why? isn't that what any parent would do.....go put the posters where the child was thought to be last seen? even when they've turned out to be false it was at least a lead.......who can be sure.....as a parent I couldn't have stayed away............
if they're not charged I still say they'll move to the US...when it becomes apparent they're not going to find Maddy....they'll come up with "its too painful to go back to Britain...and we can't stay here too many memories....." no in my opinion they'll move to the States..........

Hi Shells, I read an interview with her in the Sunday Mirror, and it didnt say that in there. It said they had been in the house about a year, and they WERE happy there.
So I might be reading something different but the impression was they love the house.

Edit I just read Toietmois link, and it says they were happy there.

Isnt' it sad & rather scary that if it weren't for Toietmoi & his fantastic links, a host of people would've misunderstood Kate so terribly.
