In my country, we celebrate Australian Day since (January 26th 1788) the date that Captain Arthur Phillip of the first fleet found settlement and came ashore at Sydney Cove, now known as Port Jackson. But Australia did not be come a nation until the Australian Federation (January 1st 1901).
