The US celebrates Independence Day because that is the day the Colonies declared independence from England. The date was July 4, 1776. We have celebrated it ever since that date.

In my country, we celebrate Australian Day since (January 26th 1788) the date that Captain Arthur Phillip of the first fleet found settlement and came ashore at Sydney Cove, now known as Port Jackson. But Australia did not be come a nation until the Australian Federation (January 1st 1901).

There's only one? Surely not. Well, the UK doesn't have an independence day - presumably because we're the country a load of other countries gained indepence from! But I doubt China has an independence day either. Happy to be corrected.

My country calls it National Day we celebrate it on the 9th of August.
I don't think my country celebrates America's Independence Day unless they celebrate MY BIRTHDAY.
