Theres a mischief maker about who is making some of us miserable with his vile & vicious posts. He also emails his victims under cloned names of YA regulars, creating trouble by making accusations. He has crossed the line this time, by making wild & evil insinuations about children.
Tho' some of us do not agree on a particular topic, i do believe that most of us are decent human beings who would not stoop to such bullying. I stumbled onto YA accidently & thought it would be a nice place to unwind. I'd hate for it to become a place where people can be hurt so.
Can anyone come up with a wise way to stop this?
Blocking takes time & its awful to see something so vile written about one's child for hours on end.
It has got to stop and i need your help on this.

Edit: Thanks guys, but did you get what i'm at?
My first point is the BULLying.
Secondly, we need to support those whom we know have been trolled & abused. Go on! Email them some support! Let them know that we care & that we won't let a BULLy mess with us. Scorpionbabe! HEAVENknows someone is hurting badly about this. She needs to know you care!
PS: if you don't understand what i'm at, you'll think i'm nuts! : )

Hey hey
I'm just new here, but I have to say this is a fairly savage site from what I've seen, Racism, religious intolerance, and I'm sad to say I have probably read some of the disguised 'questions' and subsequent replies you may be talking about.
I don't know if it helps but this link http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article692223.ece is about cyber bullying/stalking and while some might think it's not a crime and it's unpunishable there are laws being implemeted all the time. I know because my work colleague is related to a big cheese in a law firm in West London and only last week we were discussing two test cases they are handling. It might set a precedent.
Also I would think this is a fairly easy site for those posting the malicious slurs to be traced? There doesn't seem to be much security compared to other similar sites. I might have it wrong but I would assume it would be easy enough for a lawyer to demand details from yahoo if they took on a case and yahoo would surely be obligated by law to pass on the information necessary.
I don't know that I'll be hanging around, based on what I've seen in one afternoon, unless this is the work of kids out on summer break and it gets better during term time. Don't seem like kids to me, some scaaaaary people around.
You seem like a nice lady though, to be concerned enough to try and help out another person, that gives me some hope for humanity

Faith, I am in full agreement with you on this one, I have spent a week just blocking endless amount of trolls only for them to appear under another user name.
I have made my Q&A private for the first time since I started, which I never thought I would do as I don't have anything to hard but I am not having a troll stalking my questions and answers.
My suggestion is to devise a code word that is just for you and your regular contacts who email you. Me and a few others have started this already so we always know the person we recieve the email off is the genuine person.
Absoutley riddiclous that we need to do this becaue of some people who are playing stupid games.
Edit *Faith, I have offered the olive branch even though I was falsly named. I understand one certain person is hurting and my sympathies go out to her, which I have already made clear.

Well you can report the trouble maker, or block him.
I don't think there is much else to do.
Some people on here can't accept other peoples opinions which then causes vicious emails to be sent.
Oh and if you are receiving any emails, just edit your profile so that people can't email you anything.
If it is bothering you a lot I suggest you stay away from the category that the person is posting mean things in, but report them on several occasions, Yahoo should get rid of them if enough complaints and reports are made.
If you give a link to a question or something, I will report them if they are bullying anyone.
Plus, if all they can do is send nasty emails and make evil insinuations about innocent children on the Internet, he/she is clearly not a big enough person to stand up loud and say it.

Bullies always feel deeply inferior which is why they seek out someone to pick on to try to deflect their own inferiority by making someone else seem worse off. Also they seek a reaction. When you totally ignore them, or even better, laugh at them and walk away shaking your head, that will drive them nuts and if they don't get a rise out of you after while they will stop. I kinow, I was picked on all through school from second grade all the way through high school.

Hi Faith,
The amount of hurt, misery and suspicion that has been caused, probably by someone with multiple identities, should be of concern to us all. I can only assume that we are all at risk now of having our ids cloned. Like, Scorpionbabe I seem to be constantly blocking trolls only to find new ones the next day. The best bet, as Scorpionbabe says, is for close contacts to devise a code.
I'm at a loss to know what else to do and I doubt whether Yahoo can do much. It's all just horrible.

Hi Faith. There are so so many on here that I have come to the conclusion have several aliases. Some of the comments like ' pray for her' can get eight or nine thumbs down.... really, what is that about? All you can do is report him to YA... and if it is serious enough I would report it to more offical persons if need be. People do think they can say ANYTHING on here.... Freedom of speech and so forth. But some of the comments are skimming a very fine line between FOS and outright slander. It is fine to have an opionion about anything but the News/ Current Events site is turning into some kind of extreme hate site. It is wrong and I agree - it should not be tolerated - and certaintly I think YA can come with some computer wizard to stop one person having so many aliases. You have my support for one - and I dont care what side of the fence you are sitting on.

hi Faith
i agree, it is awful some are being targeted, there are a couple of nasty trolls on here that like nothing better then to post false accusations and and vindictive, vile comments to people who have been on here a long time.
last weekend was quite shocking, i mailed my contacts on both sides to show support, as i believe my contacts are decent people, and it was upsetting for them.
the only way i can think of stopping it is for Yahoo to pull there socks up and sort it out.

First of all I'd like to say I'm disgusted at the lack of response to your question considering I'm replying 6 hrs after it was sent in. I hate all forms of bullying, bullies are cowards, trolls are cowards, treat them and nasty emails with the contempt they deserve, ignore the bastards, that's my advice to anyone who doesn't want trouble, I have my own way of dealing with them and that's to take these cerebrally challenged monstrosities head on.

i've only blocked one person madeline m who i think is a sicko, no-one else has bothered me yet ! i don't know what to suggest as it is hard to tell who the trolls are and who has loads of accounts and loads of diff names, it just gets too confusing for me, (its not hard to do that) so i am just ignoring those who are offensive and i shall post and name names if i think we have a troll on board that should not be fed. we regulars and those that we have in our contacts should email each other if we find someone who needs ignoring, it would be more social and they wouldnt know that we are on to them. xx
