I wanted a name that was unusual and quite old fashioned, I can't stand it when parents feel the need to name their poor child the same name as everyone else just because it is in the top ten most popular names. My rule of thumb is that if a name appears in this list, no matter how much you love it, don't choose it! Otherwise when you child goes to school it will be one of thirty Lillies, Jacks, Olivers etc (though I do love all of those names.
My daughter is called Felicity, and whenever anyone asks her name they always say how lovely and unusual it is. She has a little difficulty in saying in though!!

My daughters are called Faye and Mairi (pronounced marry). This is the Scottish gaelic for Mary (named after my mum in law who died weeks b4 she was born) but another way to spell it is Mhairi (pronounced varry) which is the Irish gaelic version of Mary. Me, being Scottish, wanted the Scottish version of course. It is amazing the amount of people who say my girls names are old fashioned yet very original. Personally I don't like the modern names cos you have to think of the poor child who has to grow up with it. As long as you don't use "Pochahontas" you should be ok. But don't forget the surname..... it has to match with that remember. And yes, I did know a girl who called her child after an indian!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck

I lived in turkey for a while and alot of their girls names have really nice translations like Aysu - moon water or Pembe - Pink.
Personally i like Alexa, Skye & Summer for girls and Oscar and Logan for boys.
