I really havn't had much luck in my life for the last 3years. I have been quite sick and have had a few operations and a major car crash which I should be dead from (I have permenant injuries). I've had depression and been hurt a lot.

But I feel things are about to change. I've had a pretty good week (except possibly having pneumonia). I got offered a promotion at work (after being there just over a month), I'm not sports prefect at school, I'll be seeing my best friend in the whole world in less than 20days and I've been getting heaps of compliments lately and I've had top grades in 5 out 6 of my subjects at school!

I'm just scared though that I'm going to screw things up. Is it normal to feel like this? I want to be happy but I'm really scared! Please help!

Can we leave God out of this, at all possible?

WOW! It's like you are telling part of my story, but a drunk driver crashed my car and after try to kill me; just a few days before my ex-husband walked out on me and many more things that I do not even recall now.

You know what? It is true. What does not kill you make you stronger. If we were so close to death and we are still here, there must be a reason. I see it as if life was trying to give me something to talk about, some adventure (if you may) and now I'm so happy because I can appreciate things better than before.

Try to be positive, focus on the good and not the bad, perhaps take a vacation. Do things that make you happy and your fear will be left behind. If non of these work then ask for professional help, sometimes even when we try our best there's a need for help.

I can give an answer from a Christian perspective.

God is in complete control of a life, and nothing can happen that He does not permit.

Sometimes a run of very bad things happen for a while, and then people fear that this is their pattern, then they stop because God has decreed it (He allows suffering and bad things to happen to cut down the malignancy of pride in our souls, which is an evil that is far worse than anything that can happen to us - pride, not the good type, is such a terrible thing, that He will put us through anything that it be gotten rid of in our lives, even though He loves us so much).

Often too we may feel that we are in an unhealable situation, but then God, in His own good time, brings healing in the most surprising way (knowing that the time of that trial has come to an end for that person), so there is no need to fear, as any evil (no matter how bad) a true person of God has to suffer, it is only temporary with full restoration down the line.

Sounds as though things are turning the corner (finally).

Life is a series of peaks and valleys. It appears you have been in a valley for a while.

One good thing about the bad times is that they help us enjoy the good times even more.

I hope your peak period lasts a long time (sometimes they do even though the valley time seems longer).

Yes, its normal to feel the way you do, but the better things get, the more we seem to feel they will get even better. You'll be happy, so don't be scared. Besides, it doesn't sound like you screwed things up before. You were sick, which is always depressing. A good thing did happen in that time. You had a car crash (not a good thing), but you survived. A very good thing. Now you are getting better and life will look up now.

Enjoy the visit with your friend.

Sweetheart you are all ready a winner! Your a survivor and it appears that you have never given up. Applause to you!

It is natural to have fears, but there is nothing to fear but fear itself. Dare to dream. Accept that there will always be bumps in the road. There is no greater bump or mountain for that matter that is bigger than what you have already overcome. God has a major purpose for your life. Every thing that happens in your life is like a stepping stone. Each problem we overcome makes us wiser and stronger. Each stone takes us closer to our purpose! Live each day to it's fullest, challenging your fears will make you stronger.

You don't need to be scared. that won't do good to you. You should feel free to express what you feel. You need not to be frightened. Remember that you are a person who has the right to be happy. You've got the heart to feel every emotion. Be secured.
