Well, for the past 2 nights I have woken up in the middle of the night soaked in sweat by my neck and shoulder area, I mean my shirt is toally weat and it's not even hot. I stay up a little while longer because I'm freaked out, and I'm back to normal, just sleepy. I'm a girl and 17, I got some extra pounds on me but I'm not obese or anything. Please help me!

sweetheart please go to the doctor - night sweats are generally an indication that something is obviously amiss. do you have much on your mind ie stress with school, friends etc. take big deep breaths when it happens, have a little chat with yourself. tell mum and get to a GP.

Probably very normal and hormone related at your age.
If you have no other symptoms of ill health then I wouldn't worry. Sometimes medications can make this happen. Even anxiety can cause profuse sweating in your sleep. The more you worry the more likely it is to happen.
Mention it to your doctor when you go next for peace of mind - a simple blood test can make you feel more at ease and not freak out so much.
Weight has nothing to do with it.

I would let my parent know and have the doctor check my hormone levels. It could be nothing, or you could have some thyroid or endocrine issues going on that might need a little medicine to balance out until you get a little older.

It sounds like hormone fluxuations. Keep a food diary and see if it is worse if you drink soda or eat close to bedtime. Some foods are worse for hormone levels, and you may need to talk to a nutritionist about your diet and what you should avoid.

Have your mom take you to the doctor and get a physical and some blood work done. That will tell them what you need to know. The blood tests will need to be done in the morning when you haven't had anything to eat so they can see what they are like fasting. You could be diabetic and not know it. This is something you could control with food or might need medicine. Don't let it go, tell your mom and ask to go to the doctor. It doesn't sound life threatening, but it is important to get it checked out.

Good luck.

I wake up sweaty sometimes, never as bad as your talking about, but you are probably fine. I would ask your parents and then go to a doctor if you are still worried.

oh its nothing to worry about...
it happens sometimes in the adolescence....... its due to massive mental activity owing to dreams and other imaginative functions of your mind.............
all u need to do is keep calm... have water bottle beside you, where ever u sleep. this would save you from dehydration and keeping cool...............and dont panic

I would recommend talking to your mom about this issue as well as your doctor to see what they think is going on.
