They accept both Euros and Dollars everywhere. But if you don't want to be ripped off than exchange it into Liras. You can do it upon arrival at any bank. Don't do it in the hotel. Usually they charge extra

Yeh I agree go to somewhere they don't charge you like Marks & Spencer or your local bank. You'll need £10 worth of Turkish Lira, or Euro when you arrive to pay for the 'visa' when you get off the plane.

And if you need money for a taxi, it would be more handy to have some cash before you leave the country.

I wouldn't feel safe knowing I had no money when arriving in Turkey!

I think you'd probably feel safer changing at least half of it in Ireland, just so you have enough in an emergency if you don't manage to change any in the first few days. It is cheaper to change over there though because the pound is worth a lot to them, not sure why. When we went to the Turkish part of Cyprus they preferred us to pay in pounds!

change a little bit of your money here to get you there about £20 then change the rest over there it is much cheaper, or even take it out of the bank over there if your with a decent bak who doesnt charge you for doing this,

change it over in ireland because then you won't have the trouble in changing it over there and then you can just enjoy your holiday so change it ireland it is the best thing to do.

Its probably handier to have it changed before you go. I doubt there will be much difference in exchange rates...

i always change it over there you get
a better rate than over here
