not enough oxygen in your tank. they have not eaten whatever you gave them last night but the feed you gave polluted the water too much and lessen the oxygen in the water that they couldn't breathe properly. so im sorry to say, you have to buy yourself another one of them fish and don't let it happen again

It is probably a swim bladder problem. Fish are greedy creatures try not to over feed in future. Do some tests on the water making sure the ammonia and nitate levels are fine. Do a quarter water change. I suffered really bad with swim bladder problem in my tank it was eventually solved with sinking food. Buy a treatment for the water if you think it could be necessary. But my fish got swim bladder through spending to much time glupping at the water surface mainly chasing after flake food. Make sure also that your filter is working as it should and there is enough oxygen in the tank. You can make flake food sink by holding it under the water it may take a little while for your fish to get the idea but it will benefit from it. Oh and don't feed your fish until it is swimming normally again.

It could have a swim bladder problem, if it has then buy some treatment.

you should only feed what they can eat in 3 minutes and if you put to much in by accident then net it out.

Try fasting for a few days aswell

it is better to feed 2/3 times a day with small amounts

Also have a look at its spine if it is damaged then this could be a possible cause from poor nutrition there is no treatment but some fish can live like this.

u have overfed them which causes them to have swimbladder. what u r describing sounds like swimbladder, where it seems as if the fish has a air bubble in its tummy and therefore cant go to the bottom of the tank but just floats around uncontrollably. A realli good rememdy is by feeding them a pea. (it breaks down the bladder so it can release it easily)
if it is frozen, thaw it and then cut it into a small piece so that the fish can eat it.
green foods are good for swimbladder.
do this ASAP and your fish might survive.

hope i helped =]

Unless all the fish in the tank are acting like this I'd say it's on it's last legs.

If they are all acting like this the most likely problem is polluted and/or oxygen deficient water which could result from overfeeding and can probably be cured by syphoning as much mulm from the bottom as possible-perhaps with the aid of one of those gravel 'vacuum cleaners'.

Replace about a quarter of the water with fresh water of approximately the same temperature and see how the fish react. If it seems to be having a beneficial effect do the same thin again a few days later.

I had that problem with one of my shubunkins (pardon the spelling) a few months back. He wasn't digesting his food properly, therefore he had a full bladder and wasn't passing it. Try him on some Freeze Dried River Shrimp for a while in place of flake food. This acts as a roughage and will help to break down the food that is giving him indigestion. If he's also in a tank with other fish it will be best to seperate him from the others until he is better otherwise they will attack him. Don't flush him down the toilet until you have tried him on this for a few days as it may help him recover. Even if he looks lifeless. Sad as it seems, I talked to mine while he was ill, fed him on the shrimp (make sure to grind it down into little pieces) and by the time I got home from work the next day I was expecting the worst but to my surprise found him swimming about down the bottom of the reserve tank, so I put him back in with his mate and he's been fine ever since. He left some dirty water behind so that proved to me what it was, that he just had a full bladder.
Try it and I hope it works for your fish like it did mine

You can try some resuscitation methods. Kiss of life may do the trick. Heart pumps every 5 seconds. How about pushing them through the water head first to try and get some water moving through the gills. Call 911 or 999 depending on which country you are in. You could always try the vet, but drive real slowly, you don't want to frighten the little things or have water sloshing all over your car.

Best of luck

I'm not sure. Not to sound like a doomsayer but I'd think it's on it's last legs. Fish are a pain to keep and easily die if the water isn't right. I think you can buy a water tester and you can see how bad or good your water in the tank is.

and only feed them as much as they will eat in a period of 3-5 min at each feeding
