We really don't know what is going on behind scenes. We only know what the McCanns want us to know.

The family should have insisted upon bringing British Police in from day 1, it was clear that the Portuguese Police did not have the resources available to them, meaning vital evidence was not being found. 3 months later any scent of Madeleine would be very faint for the dogs to follow. At least now they have found blood (not confirmed if it's hers or not) but really all this should have happened in May, as a parent I would have made sure of it!!!
Lets just hope with the new evidence that has come to light, this whole thing is brought to an end, and there will be justice for Madeleine.

It seems the P.Police were totally blinded and led up the garden path by Gerry and his "find Maddy campaign". that they never thought she could have been killed from day one. The McCanns have succeeded in diverting the attention away from murder and onto kidnap from day one but at the end of the day the truth will come out .This was a very devious plot and should have been recognised from the onset.

You have to remember that Portugal is not some sort of Crime hotspot....it is quite a law abiding country. They are child friendly and a crime like this is almost unheard of...so they are not used to handling such enquiries...I am sure a lot of lessons will be learned as a result of this incident.

The PJ are more ruthless than you imagine, and not "backward". They have played a blinder actually.
"Posted: Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:24 am Post subject: 7th of August Portuguese newspaper

According to Diário de Notícias (a respected newspaper), the Portuguese police have known for a month that Madeleine was killed on the 3rd of May, having definitely ruled out the abduction theory. The suspicions on the McCann couple have gained new strength.
The revelation was made yesterday to this newspaper by a source related to the juridical process, and the source emphasizes the fact that the Portuguese and English police have been paying attention to the McCann's movements from the beginning, wherever they went on their campaign.
A new piece of evidence made the police sure that Madeleine has died, and that same piece of evidence set off the searches made by PJ two weeks ago at PDL. Right after that, the british policemen came to Portugal to support the investigation with the special dogs.
The PJ, who has claimed since the very beginning of the case that the key to the case is at PDL, investigated new clues and discretely interviewed Algarvian residents, cross-referencing information, especially near the Ocean Club. They ended up requesting the support of the british police to return to the apartment where Madeleine dissapeared from.
On the other hand, according to the information the newspaper received, Kate McCann was shouting "They' taken her!" when she went back to the restaurant where they were having dinner after realizing that the girl was gone. Moments after that, a tourist who was staying in an apartment near the McCann's heard Kate saying "We failed!" in a self-criticizing manner. In the questionings that were done to M's parents, family and friends of the couple which were done in the next few days, there were several contradictory versions of the story. This contributed to accumulated doubt about the abduction theory which had already been put forth by the investigators.
The investigators are still concentrating their attention on the "circle of family and friends" of the McCanns, a police source told the newspaper. According to the same source, there are friends of the couple who were on vacation at PDL who are under police surveillance in England and who are going to be called to Portugal for new questioning sessions at PJ. Parents suspected in Madeleine case, daily claims
Aug 7, 2007, 9:15 GMT
Lisbon - Portuguese police believe four-year-old British girl Madeleine McCann died in her parents' holiday apartment instead of being abducted, and are investigating whether the parents were involved, the Portuguese daily Diario de Noticias said Tuesday.
For a month, police have believed that Madeleine died, possibly accidentally, in her room on May 3, the day of her disappearance from the holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the southern Algarve region, according to the daily.
Diario de Noticias quoted an unnamed 'source linked to the process.'
Portuguese press reports have said blood traces of a dead person were discovered in the apartment, and that someone had tried to clean them up.
British reports said British experts had discovered the almost invisible traces with the help of sniffer dogs and ultra-violet technology.
British experts were trying to extract DNA from the traces to verify whether they belonged to Madeleine, according to the BBC.
Portuguese police, who have criticized the media for misleading reporting, have not officially commented on the reports.
For some time already, Portuguese and British police have kept a watch over Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, who have been travelling around Europe to maintain the interest in their daughter's case, according to Diario Noticias.
Portuguese police also wanted to interrogate some of their friends, who had returned to Britain after vacationing in Praia da Luz, the daily added.
Police were meanwhile searching cars belonging to family members of Robert Murat, the only official suspect in the case, the daily Publico reported.
Over the weekend, Portuguese and British police searched Murat's villa and its surroundings in Praia da Luz, but did not find new evidence. "

The BBC was informed by “Police officials” that blood was found within 48 hours from Madeleine disappearance and was eventually dismissed. The second review by the British Police found a substance that “could be blood” but can’t be sure 100% and they are testing it now to see if it is indeed blood. If it turns out to be blood then a DNA test will be carried out.

Peddled??? What a word to use QuickBrownFox!
When a child goes missing from her bed, "kidnapped" is naturally the first thing that one screams. Do you honestly think there are other "more probable options"?
I hear you that there could be something more sinister involved but its definately not more probable.
And i'm certain the Portuguese Police investigated every single angle (probable as well as more probable!) but just declined to divulge details of their investigation in keeping with their laws.

You don't know anything of what has gone on.
Everyone stop trying to second guess and "I could do it better" every move that the authorities make.
