Life saving techniques - Artificial Respiration, when the casualty isn't breathing - cover the mouth and nose and blow into the open mouth. Check that airway is clear. Chest compression - if the casualty has no heartbeat, to press vigorously on the breastbone to attempt to restart the heart. Paramedics use electric shock for this purpose. In the water, to swim on your back, using what in england we call a breaststroke leg kick, supporting the casualty's head out of the water with your own body. Hope this helps.

Tension pneumothorax. Tracheotomies aren't sterile to begin with, so that isn't a great example.
