There are so many places that you may consider nice...
The Space Needle has apparently gotten a bad reputation, which is undeserved, but years ago was true. Their food has been good for some time now since the place got "reworked" and the kitchen and/or staff was vastly improved over its "old ways". You're still paying a premium because it's at the top of the Needle, but the food is good these days...
The Palisades is a really nice place that's kind of a Seattle-fusion style of restaurant that is supposed to be more of an Island-themed restaurant. It is in Magnolia on the waterfront and can be really intimate, but not so that you couldn't go with a friend. The food is excellent!
The Metropolitan Grill is always a great place to dine to get a fantastic steak! World renowned, classy place to bring friends, great happy hour, and right on 2nd Ave. downtown!
The Oceanaire is a good seafood place that's got a lot of fresh seafood and oysters are good, but I think it's a bit pricier and higher rated than it should be. It's definitely good and a nice place to take people, but not so nice as IT thinks it is. Oh yeah, this is on 7th and Olive or Stewart.
The Dahlia Lounge is a great place on 4th & Virginia. They are another sort of NW-fusion style of restaurant using local ingredients in their entrees. The food is delicious! There's a comfortable full-bar that I've hung out at before movies and shows that's also nice. The crab cakes are fantastic! This place deserves its acclaim!
In Chinatown, the Tamarind Tree (on Jackson just before 12th, kind of up in a complex a bit hidden), is a really charming place to take people. The place is really nice and the food is great! Vietnamese cuisine served up on fantastic dishes that I always love! The Tamarind Tree Rolls are a great starter that I always end up getting more than one order of. If you like Vietnamese food, this place would be great to take your friend to!

There are so many cool restaurants in seattle, but its always fun to eat on the space needle. I also like the ceescake factory, and anything seafood, we have so many good seafood choices.

I was just on vacation in Seattle a week ago. BOKA was good its at hotel 1000 on 1st avenue downtown. I also heard the Fish Club was good if you like seafood and was rated in the top places to eat for seafood. Mcormick and Schmicks was also good and its a block away from hotel 1000 and they also had seafood.

My favorite restaurant is actually just north of Seattle in the U district. Taste of India. FABulous food. Oh man, the chai is divine... relaxed atmosphere, cozy but not suffocating. Great service, even better prices.
