If i reemmber right, Germany and the Soviet Union actually were allies in the 30's, and there was a military pact. Both would invade Poland. But the agreement stood that neither would then interfere with the other. Germany would have free shot at western Europe and Russia would stay out of the war.

This pact ended when Germany, needing oil, invaded the Ukraine.

So lets say Germany never invaded Russia and Russia stayed neutral (or at least from the Europe war).

That would mean the only threat to Germany was britian which was barely holding out untill the United States finally entered the war, and whatever else allies from the west.

Could germany have won the war?

I reckon they could have done. Also another vital mistake they made was calling off the bombing of the RAF camps to attack random towns in revenge for our bombings. This allowed the RAF to regain it's strength and müller the Germans :)

Probably yes. His original plan was to jump straight from France to invade Britain, but, as Britain was no immediate threat at that stage having just suffered defeat at Dunkirk, he decided to invade Russia instead under the mistaken belief that Russian troops were poorly equipped and trained. And as usual Hitler didnt listen to his general's advice.

This was a mistake and he should have left the German/Soviet treaty intact and invaded Britain. We plucky Brits would still have given him one hell of a fight but, in the end, we wouldve lost and Hitler would have solved his oil problem by gaining possesion of British ruled Iran and Iraq.

At this point the question would be what wouldve happened after Pearl Harbor (which probably still wouldve happened) - would America busy with its 'own war' with Japan (an ally of germany) bother to fight Germany? I doubt it. Without a landbase from which to mount a sustained campaign US forces would be severly stretched.

I think Hitler was sensible enough to know that declaring war on the US would be useless for the same reason so we would have a situation where Germany ruled all of Europe, Russia remained neutral.

America and Japan would still fight and the outcome would still probably been the same. So i guess the real question is what would the US relationship with Nazi Germany be after Hitler won the war in Europe and America the War in the Pacific???????

No they would not of, you have overlooked the little faux par the Germans other "eastern ally" did , that little thing called Peral Harbor on decemeber 7th, 1941, that Japanese did, and made Hitler blow a major casket. It gave the UK, and Winston churchill, just what they wanted, and desperatly needed, the US involvement in the war, and that they did, they declared war on both Japan and Germany, and 75% of there effort went into defeating the Germans (and Italians) first, Hitler knew, that if the US got involved his cnaces where nill to none in full conquest of all of Europe, and he was careful not to have unrestricted submarine warfare as in WWI, but Old tojo upset that apple cart. As US economic might geared up and started cranking out huge volumes and doubling numvers each month after month, and what seemed to be an endless supply of fresh, trained, well fed and equiped troops landed in europe things started to go down hill pretty fast for old Adolf, Then when that was well established, and germany was in it's death throws, the us started focusing more effort on Japan. Even if the us had to continue in Germany longer, sincethere would be no Russian eastern front for the Germans to worry about, the US Juggernaught which by 1944 had over 10,000,000 troops in Europe, or comited to Eu, with more available as needed. the US had by early 1944 enough supplies stock piled and still being cranked out in larger numbers each month, would still have defeated germany, maybe by the Spring or early summer of 1946.

Highly likely.

You are correct that Germany and Russia were allied by the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement. The two countries had, in effect, carved up Poland between them and it was only when Hitler invaded the Ukraine that this pact between them was torn up.

Hitler vastly underestimated the capabilities of the Red Army and made the grave error of stretching his supply lines and opening a second front when the first front was not properly secure.

I dont think so because Germany attacked Ukraine because they could trust the Russians in on that part of the deal if they didnt attack Russia, the Russians would have ended up attacking Germany anyway, IF they remain allies and forgetting about the oil, yes they may of had.
But they would not have conquered the world because Russia would still be free..
and then the Germans would still fight against Russia and I spose it would be quite equal
Nice question

Germany couldn't win the war. Their policy was wrong and what they've done had offended the whole world. No country could accept that, so if Germany hadn't invaded Russia or anything else, finally they would lose. Perhaps if they did that, the war would last longer than it was.

It depends what you mean by "win". They should have followed Britain back across the channel & closed out Europe. If they had stopped at that point & started to re-establish relations with other nations in the world, maybe they'd have had a chance.

Consider that the USSR, for example; it expanded at the end of the war & stabilised for decades. It's not inconceivable to think that the Germany empire could have existed for a number of years.

I doubt that Germany would have won if they hadn't invaded Russia. The Russo-German pact was a tenuous alliance at best. Two dictators calling time-out, while they got ready to double-cross each other. Hitler just happened to strike first. If he hadn't, Stalin certainly would have attacked as soon as he thought he had a favorable opportunity.

The answer is yes but there is to many whys and why not, Hitler hated the Russians nearly more than anyone so he only made an agreement with Russia to give him time to beat or make an agreement with Britain. He was always going to go to war with Russia.
Great Question

Yes, if believe they could have won the war if they did not attack Russia. Hitler underestimated the USSR. However, victory would not have tilted to the side of the Allies if the United States was kept out of the war.

Hitler was dead set on invading Russia if he had delayed to after defeating Britain he still would have lost.
If he never went against Russia and went to Arabia instead who knows.
but what of U.S.A could they still have won on there own fighting on two fronts.
would Germany been the first to develop the A-bomb?.
