Well, I'm going to answer that, partially, at least. Aside from the pompous self-righteous attitude of your common everyday American, there is the biggest issue. Call it hypocrisy, call it BS, call it whatever you want. It's there.

The United States is the self-titled Humanitarian Nation of the World, spreading freedom, liberty, and justice...Except when it's not.

If you want to look further back, there is, of course, the Native Americans. A little beyond that is the Philippines, and the aftermath of the Spanish-American War.

Or how the United States completely ignores anything the U.N has to stay. Once the United States became the superpower to beat, it became obvious the true intention behind this government. There was a 1972 treaty banning the use of biological weapons and germ warfare. To enforce this law, the U.N made an agreement to allow the search of ALL nations, but of course, the U.S refused to allow any such searches of their arsenals. -Out of space, can't type

Ok. Where was I? Oh yes, obviously the U.S showed a great amount of interest by refusing to acknowledge the multilateral arms agreement.

""AMERICA was heading for a new confrontation with its allies yesterday after it emerged that the Bush Administration will refuse to accept an arms control deal to enforce a ban on biological weapons.

Following the controversy caused by Washington's rejection of the Kyoto protocol and its decision to challenge the ABM treaty on missile defence, the move is likely to lead to a new diplomatic row with its allies in Europe and Asia.

At issue is a draft agreement being negotiated in Geneva to enforce the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention which bans the development, production and stockpiling of germ warfare agents. The treaty has been ratified by more than 140 countries, including the United States, but until now there has been no mechanism to enforce it. "

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's not forget unlawful trade sanctions and embargo

s--Then there is The Land Mine Treaty.

"The refusal of America to sign the Mine Ban Treaty represents a particularly embarrassing contradiction, since President Clinton, during a 1994 speech to the UN General Assembly, became the first leader of a major power to demand elimination of all antipersonnel land mines. In 1996, Clinton pledged in public that the United States would spearhead an international campaign to rid the world of antipersonnel land mines"

We then come to one of the largest reasons for U.S resentment. America's self-righteous interference of other nations.

"The Korean War, which caused 3 million deaths and the Vietnam War, which killed 2 million people, were the most deadly conflicts. All 138 wars were fought in the Third World, and many were fuelled by weapons provided by the two major powers or their allies [...]

The surfeit of weapons, especially small arms, left over from this era is a key enabling factor in many conflicts now scarring the world [...] Yet the

...Yet the arms trade continues. [...] The five permanent members of the security council provide 86% of the arms exported to developing countries. In 1992, the United States alone accounted for 46 percent. "

Next is the environmental inconsistencies of America. Having lived there, I've heard a great deal of Green Peace, bash the 3rd world countries propoganda...BUT...

"The USA drew worldwide criticism for failing to adopt the greatest international agreement for the reduction of some greenhouse gases, The Kyoto Protocol, which has been accepted by nearly every other country. This is despite the fact that the USA is by a massive margin the world's biggest polluter and very disproportionately so. President bush has repeatedly stated that he will not adopt such protocols if they harm American economy. Commercialism and greed overcome all common sense and thought for the welfare of future generations. See my complete page on "Oil, Pollution and Kyoto". This failure causes hatred not on

only of the Bush administration, but of American commercialism in general."

"The US contains 4% of the world's population but produces about 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions. By comparison, Britain emits 3% - about the same as India which has 15 times as many people "

Now. Onto the mind frame of the average American. What makes this American nation worse than others of today?

The U.S refuses to admit any wrong-doing in anything. Kind of like Japan. However, Japan's atrocities stopped after it's defeat. America's are still going. However, it is their self-declared right to Police the world that makes them think this is okay. But it is too contradictory. Where were they during Rwanda?

Furthermore, the Average American citizen is said to have an IQ about 98. Explains a lot, doesn't it? How so many Americans can justify all their actions since the conception of their nation, yet condemn those very SAME actions when another nation commits the same crimes.

2007-08-06 20:59:53 · update #4

A good example of this would, again, be the U.S treatment of the Philippines. Of course, when the Japanese did it, they were evil bastards, never looking at themselves for the same actions. The U.S has always claimed to be a bastion of freedom, the saints of the world, they make sure the world follows international law, and they will too! Until it becomes inconvenient...(U.S ignores Filipino President's Declaration of Independence, stating that they bought the Philippines from Spain.

Let's not also forget how Americans value their lives about those of other nations. So, we killed a few hundred civilians? Who cares, we saved American lives by doing this. (Hiroshima, Nagasaki)

"Stop ranting long enough to answer me this.
If everyone hates the US why are so many people trying to get in this country? "

Many people who hate the United States will take advantage of it's better side, i.e, education.

That does not mean they love it. And for all the people who are trying to get in, there are even more who don't want to. The immigrants who try to enter the United States aren't the majority.

I lived here and have never heard of anyone thinking that WWII is still going on or that it ended 5 years ago. If you are taking an extreme case and applying it generally to all Americans, you are doing exactly as they are.

And while the basic American Education may be lacking, it is generally agreed upon that the colleges and universities in the U.S are the best.

This is not really one of America's weaker points. While there are many unemployed and uneducated, the potential for employment and education are such, that it is still considered the Land of Opportunities, however misguided that assumption may be.

Of course, there's always going to be one stupid person. Can't help that.

Don't get me wrong, Americans have done great things, and I find the intelligent Americans to be very friendly people, worthy of having actual conversations with.

I decided to post this because many people have questioned the reason to the growing amount of hate expressed towards Americans. I am NOT Anti-American. I am simply stating facts. I do not hate Americans for this, though at times I find Americans very annoying for these reasons.

Again, this is not my opinion, but simply an answer to a question I've seen asked several times.

As an American myself, I must say that I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am just not sure where to move to get away from this satan-ridden country.

Americans don't even treat each other right, let lone how they handle interaction with other countries.

After being overseas and seeing how much better off they have it as far as health care and general way of life. I am trying very hard to get out of here but the problem is it is next to impossible for an american to go to another country, one of the reasons is they plain don't want us, and I dont blame them. This country is a mess in everyway and when you look around at all the low life 3rd world people that want to immigrate here is part of our problem. Most people Ive talked to in Europe, canada, Germany would never want to come to the US

Because like Hitler, the lib mindset has infiltrated the school system & between programming & professors, this generation does not have a chance. They are pushing for an end of the U.S. & want to embrace globalism, which they have been programmed to believe will be utopia. The stage is being set for one man to step into global leadership & rule the world..........gee, what does that remind you of? It's amazing that he needs the help of the intellectual giants that conduct barf outs on the steps of city hall. This movement has created some real frankensteins that are more detrimental than helpful. The good thing is that it is waking up some of the complacent & lackadaisical conservatives that have been asleep & comatose for far too long.

the love-hate-relationship to the USA is based on...

it's all been mentioned, I think:
the people there are really nice, caring, friendly - as single persons. unluckily, they are also not at all interested in the world outside their little 'paradise'. ever watched TV news in, let's say, New York?
nothing or little about Europe, Asia or Africa; but loads of regional news.
education? good joke!
take a look at the an-alphabetics' rate, at the number of unskilled workers, or the number of unemployed people.
sorry, but the majority on the streets think that WW2 still goes on, or ended about 5 years ago!
education is for the well-off, not for all.
and Europe starts to copy that... a nightmare!

but the people as a people, as "the Americans", are terrible, arrogant, self-righteous, bigot.
they enforce their believe, their (corrupt) government system, their bigot morals - I hope you don't call that improvement.

still, there are many countries where the people live under worse conditions. the States are at least a politically stable and rich country. that is the reason why so many apply for immigration.

I myself would never emigrate to the USA. as for a holiday, yes, I'd go - but stay?
I prefer my little part of the world.

Um ... well I don't hate America (I'm an Aussie). Yankee bashing (in a figurative sense) is kinda fun. The President is a moron, but so is our Prime Minister, so news there?

Some, few, Americans are over the top and obnoxious, but I've seen the Crocodile Hunter shows (very unpopular here), so I'm not going to push THAT point.

... Nope I think you're raving

I have a few American friends.Real sweet down to earth people. However, there are some American ideas that find themselves heading across the pond to us in the UK that I don't like. There was an article in The Times last Sunday that basically said it all for me.It showed the average American family.Kids sat around the parents, grinning for the cameras, with guns cradled in their arms as if it was the family pet.The gun culture has found itself in the inner cities in the UK, and lots of kids in gangs have been killed as a result.Have to agree with the points you made in your question too.

An enormous amount of reasons, but essentially it all boils down to elitist capitalism combined with immense power. Inevitably this leads to abuses; mass incarceration, low worker rights, meaningless wars, state "worship"... these things are symptoms leading to bigger problems. All the while the mainstream media dumps consumerism down your throat and tells you who to hate and attempts to cover for some of the gross abuses of state power.

Theres a lot of arrogance in some Americans,

Also America being a greedy capitalist culture and the way they see it as being the "best" culture and wish to force it on everyone else is particulalry objectionable.

They cannot seem to allow others to live in a different way to themselves and not share their values! They seem to see themselves as a "World Police" trying to make everyone like them.

As for "freedom" - they are not "free" they are slaves to the Capitalist system and the greedy businesses. I'd sooner have my basic human rights like Socialised healthcare thanks.

Iamright:

The only people trying to "get into" America are the starving hoardes of the Third World who are trying to get into EVERY "rich" western country, not just the USA, my God some of you are so deluded!!!

don't get me wrong. I think most people in the united states are wonderful.they also contributed to some marvellous stuff . it's just that their goverment is all messed up and their policy sucks. Some people are blinded by the media and blindly programmed to follow all the things the goverment asked them to do. since they are the biggest & dominant country in the world, their interest comes first and others comes second. just remember every great empires will crumble eventually. if the people won't change it one day it will shatter like a piece of glass.
