You've gotten some great ideas! Choose Broadway in general, a specific show, a time period, or even a specific composer (Sondheim anyone?) whatever floats your boat.
I think a fun game to play would be to stick names of characters (from one show or many depending on your eventual theme) on each person's back and they have to go around and ask each other yes or no questions about who they are. If not all of your guests are into musical theatre, put out some in your face clues to help them out like maybe headshots with character facts on the back :-)
Karaoke of course. You could hire a DJ or rent a machine with music to go with it. Maybe you could also play Name That Tune with show tunes. Try to choose some in advance that the guests will know.
You can also do 'best impersonation or interpretation of a character' and those brave enough will have to perform for the group.
The cake can be done to look like a record or themed like a scene from her favorite musical or like curtains on stage with spotlights, etc. Use your imagination! I drew up what I wanted on my daughter's cake and the bakery at the grocery store copied it! If you want writing that may infringe on copyright, do it yourself after you pick it up :-) But leave the airbrushing of tiny hairpsray cans to the pros if you get my drift!
Your daughter's thank you can be a bit elaborate and you can make a mini scrapbook 'program' with bios and 'cast photos' which would be their keepsake. She could also include a handwritten thank you for thei attendance and gift of course ala when an understudy is replacing a main performer :-)
You would use photos from the dress up props you had for the party including a Tracy Turnblad wig or whatever you chose to have that went with your theme. Kids will do anything when hamming it up for pictures. We had (straight) boys putting on feather boas, no lie!
Have fun!!!!

Well, your invites could look like tickets or something. You could also make them look plike Playbills, which would be a lot more creative.
For games, you can play a Broadway Karaoke. They have some Broadway Karaoke DVDs on Netfflix. You could play a sort of game like they do on "The Singing Bee." You play a song from whatever CD, and then stop it, and that person has to guess the lyrics, or sing the chorus of that song.
You could also gather round your computer and play this Broadway trivia game here : http://www.pbs.org/wnet/broadway/game/game.html
As prizes, you could give away little fake Tony Awards. I'm sure you can buy fake trophies somewhere..
And if you're having your friends stay the night, you can always watch a musical movie such as :
Cats
Rent
Notre Dame de Paris
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Phantom of the Opera
Jesus Christ Superstar
Chicago
etc.
If you want, you could also dress up as your favorite musical characters!
That's all I could come up with...hopefully you'll come up with more ideas too.

I have two ideas
The first is a general Broadway Party in which people could come dressed as they're favorite character. Invites could be playbills, or you could give playbills as like a party favor, like a frame with the playbill on the outside and a room for a picture on the inside. Then for party stuff, I'd prolly have a stage where people could perform all night, I prolly would play alot of showtunes. the cake could be of ur favortie show, or a playbill or a tony. You could have ppl RSVP so u know who'll be there, and have ppl vote when they come and then have a mock tony awards. Something to that nature...there's alot you could do, you just have to match things up (ie do you want playbill cake and tony party favors, or tony cake and playbill party favors)
second idea is picking a show. And though it might seem limited, it's really not, depending on how well you and others know the show. Say you picked Rent. Everything could be new york themed, ppl could come dressed as their favorite character but not just the same costumes....dress their own interpretation to their character. Play the music. maybe ppl could perform, or if you did do Rent you could split up everybody by character and have them all sing Seasons of Love.... so all the Mimi's would sing mimi's part and so on.
If it's safe, i'd have a trash can or two with burning "trash". You could all play/sing la vie boheime b/4 u eat. Have Rent/Broadway Trivia for prizes (Rent themed of course i just mean, it doesn't all have to be from the show, you could ask who in the movie weren't in the original production. what year it premiered. things like that along with things that alot of ppl would know, like what song does mimi sing in the strip joint)
hope this helps, if i wasnt so expected to do it, I would have a broadway party, but ppl would be kinda weirded out by others coming dressed like them (i do musical theatre, so most of the people there would have been in these musicals)

Project Runway Party You can do a project runway party. It might sound silly, but my friend (13) did one, and it was amazing. You have bags with some cheap theme items (asian, candy, recycle, mother nature, etc) that you can turn into a scavenger hunt for so that people have accessories to work with. then have each person get a skirt and a trash bag that can be shaped into a top (it worked so well i was shocked). Put people in groups of 2 (2 people per theme), so they can share ideas. Give people an hour to come up with an outfit. You should probably have these items too for everyone to use; -hot glue -scissors -spray paint -safety pins -thick masking tape -ribbon, pipe-cleaners, old belts/hairband etc (that you don't want/ use anymore) -anything else that comes to mind to make cute outfits It is so fun- it's super fun, creative and crafty without being at all kiddy! Other theme... Have a "california girls" (after the Katy Perry song) party. props: set up beach umbrellas, reclining chairs, etc. have a dance floor, with a good sound system playing your favorite hits. games: early during the party, you should have water games later, do truth or dare, while you have food food: have pizza, chips, salad, watermelon coolers watermelon cooler recipe -about 5 cups of cubed seedless watermelon - 2 cups of lime juice -2 cubes of ice per cup -3 cups of sparking water -sweetener for people who want it put the first two ingredients into a blender, and blend well. strain the mixture, add the sparking water and put into a pitcher, chill it until ready to serve. Serve over ice in fancy cups. Hope this helped- happy birthday

You could pick your favorite show and have the guests come as the characters. If that is too limited, pick a year, open up the costumes from plays that were choice at the Tony Awards that year. Expand it even further, open it up to characters (leads only perhaps) from Tony Award winning shows.
Invitations could be made up like award notifications.
A good lighting company could light up your party location to make it very realistic. Do you have a theater in your town or city? Rent it out for the party. Have them light it up, choose a set from their stores if they have them. Have your friends tell the group about why the chose their character and tell a bit about the show. Get the shows that are on tape of CD and play them in the background, act along to scenes from the shows.
Have lots and lots of fun.
I hope this helps.

Pick your favorite show, and have the entire party themed after it. Put the soundtrack in the cd player, and show the movie later in the party. Example: If your favorite Broadway show is Les Miserables, maybe you could hang French flags outside, and have everybody where revolutionary costumes.
Sounds like a fun idea--hope it's great.

Before you can go to the main part of your birthday, you have to audition. (everyone gets on of course) then you go get your costumes on and play games like hide and go seek, but instead make it hidden in the Palace theatre, or have a treasure hunt for the cast list. You then dress up in costumes, make a stage, and do skits and songs for eachother. Have a cast party (eat dinner) and afterwords calm things down with a movie (a musical of course)

Invites could be like a Playbill format. And you would definitely need a stage. Just have fun with it. Name cards could be on model Tony's... that one might be difficult but really have fun with that type of stuff.
