Im married to a woman who is more than 9 years older to me and now she s 46. My wife has 2 children son aged 21 and daughter aged 16 by her previous marriage. i have a 3 year old daughter by her who is healthy and intelligent. Now my wife is pregnant again with twins. She had normal delivery even at 43. Is it possible that she will have normal childbirth and they will be ok. Is that make diffrerence to our kids if my wife is much older and have kids?

Your wifes age isn't important because she had children before age 40. It is more of a concern if she was pregnant now for the first time, which she isn't. Some doctors feel that there is a higher risk of a Mongoloid (Down Syndrome) child the older the woman is giving birth. Or Spina Bifida, which they can also test for prior to giving birth.

This is not the case, just a concern and this is why most doctors might consider doing a test for it. My husband wouldn't allow me to have the test because he felt we would accept whatever God decided .... healthy normal child or not, he said he wouldn't allow an abortion, so no reason to have the test. The test itself poses risks.

Because of age and with twins, I really think she needs good professional care from a doctor and not a midwife or other form of care. With a doctor you won't have any worries without knowing or questions unanswered. They will make sure that if there is a concern, you will know about it.

We had six healthy children with most now grown and two Grandchildren to date. Your wife will be perfect I'm sure.

Your last question: Kids usually don't care what age mom or dad are! Some might have a few scars because you were both married before so they don't have both natural parents still married, but this is a fact now over and lived through and nothing will change this. You both have moved on to a new marriage with children born to this marriage, and all children are happiest if mom and dad love each other, don't fight and love their children!

Congrats!

Each pregnancy is special but if your spouse has already had 2 kids (had been they vaginal or cesarean sections?) then this pregnancy should be an identical. I'm a Labor and delivery nurse and now we have been seeing more ladies having toddlers of their 30's and 40's and ,like most pregnancies, these are without complications. A number of causes that motive a being pregnant to be higher danger are when the mother is a youngster or over thirty-5, very underneath weight or over weight, when the mummy smokes, when pregnancies are close together, when the mother has had 5 or extra pregnancies, with more than one C/Sections, or negative maternal wellness. Your OB surgeon will have to be ready to answer your questions and provide you with expertise. Do not be fearful of asking her. For a healthy being pregnant the most important component is a healthy mom and that comes from just right prenatal care. Congratulations on the brand new child. Your concern and participation in this being pregnant means greater than you understand.

Why not?

Older women 35+ have a higher chance of passing genetic problems (birth defects) but in general if they are healthy they are still very capable of sustaining a pregnancy and giving birth.

Often times older women even act as surrogate mothers and carry a child for someone else. The main potential problem is with genetic mutations, because as people age their DNA gets damaged and in a woman's case this includes her egss.

Since your wife had a healthy pregnancy 3 years ago, it seems there is a very good chance she will again.

Congratulations!

If your wife was pregnant with one baby, it would be more likely. Because she is older and has two babies, they will likely schedule a c-section to get those two little ones out. Nothing to worry about.

As for age, your children will have no idea that their mom is older! :) As long as you and your wife have energy to take care of them and love them, they will thrive. Sounds like you are perhaps concerned about her age - don't you worry. Focus on the miracles growing in her tummy. Age truly doesn't matter.

Congratulations!

As long as your wife is in good health (no preeclampsia, etc) and your babies are in good health (not breech, not in danger) then most physicians allow women pregnant with multiples to deliver vaginally.

Your children will be blessed to have two parents that love them. To them age will matter very little.

I don't see why she shouldn't have a normal delivery! Possibly she will deliver early as she is carrying twins. Good luck - exciting times ahead for you both.
