The book is made up of over 500 photos of local events and everyday happenings in Red Bluff, Ca. and the surrounding area. If you lived in Red bluff in the early 70's, You might see yourse4lf in the book or at least someone you know. Or forgot you knew. I think this is a wonderful keepsake type book. Let's start with promotion. I don't know where Red Bluff is, but you should send a review copy of the nearest newspaper in the hopes it will generate a story. I would see if there was a news/talk radio station that might be interested in having the author in for an interview. In fact, there might be more than one station.

Then there are the local bookstores. See if you can set up a signing. The historical society might be interested in hosting a talk. Send a press release to the local free weekly (Pennysaver in many places), and let people know how to get it and what it's about.

That should get you started. Good luck.
