They are on the right track. They got rid of their bad QB and RB guys and now have Schaub and Ahman Green in their place. Instead of drafting a high QB, they traded for an underrated player and hope he can do something with the team. Because they have many team needs, I like the move. Schaub was know as the best backup in the league for years and if he wasn't behind such a talented player as Vick, he would have played more. Ahman Green has proven he can play in the NFL and came at about $45 million less than Bush did. Green will do a good job this year and I see them taking a good running back in a draft in the near future, but Green will be above average in the running department (Kubiak always gets the most out of players...when he left Denver, Plummer went from a high 90s QB rating to a low 70s...and T. Bell went from a 5.3 ypc to a 4.4 ypc).
They actually are getting a lot better with some young talent on defense. D. Ryans, Mario Williams and A. Okoye (who is like 19...will play for many years) will improve this run defense and hopefully start getting to the QB. M. Greenwood and D. Robinson are also doing well.
Do I think they can beat the Colts...no. Do I think they can beat the Titans...(lost their starting RB and both starting WRs)...yes. Do I think they can beat Jacksonsville...(no QB and no good Wide Recievers)...yes. I think they have a chance at being the 2nd best team in the division. Will they make the wild card over Cincy, Jets, and Broncos? I don't know. But there is a chance.

Well, they do have a decent young defense, but they still aren't a playoff team. There is no sign that the offensive line will be better, so that negates the addition of Matt Schaub. Ahman Green really isn't all that good either at RB, but he was more desirable to sign than Jamal Lewis.
The Texans made the right draft pick last year by going with Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush. However, they need to get an offensive line (David Carr, last year's completion percentage leader, really cannot be blamed for his failures in Houston because he was the most sacked QB in history) before they can score enough points to get to the playoffs.
The Colts (whom the NFL has recently admitted didn't actually win the AFC Championship game) are hurting on defense once again, so they're gonna probably be 8-8 at best. Jacksonville has a great running game and a great defense and Leftwich is one of the most underrated QBs in the league (albeit way too injury prone). They'll win the AFC South this year. Tennessee's in trouble because they only have 2 good players, one of whom is suspended and one of whom is on the cover of the new Madden game.
The Texans have a chance to finish 2nd or 3rd in their division this year, which would be a significant accomplishment in and of itself.

Im a Texan fan myself..
They won't make the playoffs this year but, they are geting closer to it..
Schaub just joined the team this year.. Ahman Green is way to old..
The plus for the Texans is Schaub is the new QB and he is clicking with Andrea Johnson very well to start.. The defense is very young but, is improving every day..
They might get lucky and sneak in.. But, most likely the Texans are 1 to 2 years away from the playoffs..

Because Jupiter, Uranus, and Saturn all will come into line on Nov 17th, causing a kryptonite meteor crashing into the Atlantic ocean. This meteor will create a major tidal wave/tsunami which will wipe out Miami, Jacksonville, Baltimore, New York and Boston (New England).
The run-off from this Tsunami will drain into the Great Lakes, overflowing them, wiping out Cincinatti, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. Then, in an ironic twist of fate, Peyton Manning will conduct a humanitarian effort/cleanup of the affected areas, and be exposed to the kryptonite, rendering him once again human.
This atrocity will thrust Houston into the playoffs, where they will be badly destroyed by Denver. (The only AFC team a Mile High and out of reach of this global terror). San Diego would have been the other play-off contender, had LaDanian Tomlinson not eaten a bad burrito from Taco Bell, ending his season prematurely.
And on a side note to Daniel P: The two teams you mentioned are in a completely different conference and in no way will affect the outcome of the texan's season, barring tie-breakers w/the common games. I can only hope the meteorite strikes your house before it makes it's entry into the atlantic, strengthening the gene pool of this fine planet.

Is this a joke? The Texans are in the same division with the Colts. Plus its the AFC. With the patriots, titans, etc getting better I doubt they stand a chance. By the way they should have taken reggie bush.

A better question is why won't they make the playoffs this or any year. You'll get alot more honest answers like that.

Because the Colts, Titans and Jaguars will forfeit all their games this year and the Texans will easily win the division!
