Before social security in the US a large fraction of old people lived in poverty and now very few do. Giving poverty stricken people money is very effective. However it removes incentives to work.

Forget about trying to solve poverty this way.

Here's why: Are you willing to give up everything and start over so that everyone has their basic needs met?

One accomplished, are you willing to limit yourself so that the new basic worldwide standard of living is maintaned?
