West .. the farther west the better. I live in the southwest and it is only about two years old. All new construction and new shopping areas are just now starting to pop up. So I would say the southwest is the best.

In general, the far western half of town (anywhere west of Rainbow Blvd.) is a good part of town, newer construction (all within the past 20 years, most within the past 10). As you head further east, the crime rates go up, the houses become older, and the neighborhoods decline. This becomes even worst when you head north-east of Las Vegas. There are a few execptions to this rule: 1. the far northern portion of North Las Vegas (Known as Aliante) is good, as i the far southeast area (Henderson, Southern Hils, and most developments south of Russell Rd.) I personally live in the southwest portion of the valley where up until recently most development was centered (the Summerlin area). Another area that has recently started development is Centennial Hills, this is like a master-planned comunity, except it was planned by the city instead of a private developer, so you have lower HOA dues. hope this helps
