All cars have rev limiters, so yes.

Porsche did not build a 944S2 in 1984. 1983 was the first year for the 944. The S was built in '87 and '88 and the S2 was built from '89 to '91, I believe.

However, all 944 and 944 variants have rev limiters, usually around 6500 RPM.

So the answer to your question is definitlely yes, if you atleast are correct about it being a Porsche 944 of some sort.

The 944S2 uses Bosch DME engine management, which has a rev-limiter built into the software. The limiter is slightly on the conservative side, which is why you see many aftermarket DME chips that raise the limit (though the original limit serves as a good reference point as this was the factory's intent).
