With my two girls i waited until they were 6 months. After they had a series of DTaP and Hepatitis. Also my pediatrician pierced their ears right at the same time the nurse was giving their 6 month shots. But in my opinion, having your ears pierced after 4 is just plain old torture. I got mine pierced at 8. It hurt like heck for like 2 days because i had to keep turning them. Also as a little girl, having your ears pierced is a very special thing that makes us almost like mommy. lol

I guess it differs. Where i am from, baby girls' ears are pierced couple weeks or so after they are born. Then it wont hurt as much because their ears are still very tender but here in the US people wait longer which i personally believe the baby will feel and the mother might not be able to stand seeing her in so much pain.

Most hospitals will do it when the baby is born the upside of doing it at the hospital because you KNOW its clean and safe, I mean if it wasnt would you really let your child be born there?

Some parents like to wait until they're baby is older and would like to make that dissision, others get they're childs ears pierced when they are smaller because they are young and easy to forget pain but also slightly more likely to get infected because they are younger.

Its all in instincts i had mine done when i was just a few months old, I personally like it that way because then i wouldnt have to worry about it later on if i ever wanted them pierced and dont have to be afraid of the pain later in life =).

but if your sister in law wants her child to get a second piercing also i think at least 10 and no younger for a second hole.

I dont think parents should pierce there babys ears because 1: it might hurt the baby
2: the parents should wait till the child is older to see if they want their ears pierced
So in other words, id wait until like 5 or 6

My daugther's ears were pierced at the age of three months. She is now three years old. I believe that was the best age for ear piercing because nothing happend to her. Besides, the first earings to be used are hypoallergenic earings, very safe for early month-old babies.

You should wait until the baby is 25. I'm sorry but this is not some doll you're playing with. Do not pierce your child's ears. It is unnecessary and you'd be doing it for yourself because surely the baby won't get anything out of it.

I personally would wait until the child is old enough to make that decision on her own. My parents waited and it's a good thing because I turned out to be a tomboy and didn't want my ears pierced.

My personal opinion: It should definitely be left up to the child and it can be something they earn later on, like a reward for good behaviour.
I don't believe in putting holes in perfectly good ears unless they're your ears.

But if your heart is set on it, I guess at an age where the child is old enough to sit still for it
