Not necessarily someone you know or care for. The wish could be anything with no further complications for you. Anything, besides wishing that person who died back to life. Would you.

Excellent question! Everybody dies for some reason sooner or later, but would I be willing to cause that death?

You know that we do it every day by our choices, anyhow.

Ahh yes, the classic moral dilemma. Its all about who you are, and what you want. If you think about it, there are over 6 bil people in this world nearly 7 bil, so what does one person mean? However, is what you wish for truly worth the expense of a persons life? Then you ask yourself, do I truly care if I don't know the person? Which leads to, what if you know the person? And then it gets harder, what if it is someone close to you? Then again, they never specified which species it is that will lose one life. But would you risk it? Even then, a human is born every two seconds, and another dies every three seconds (on average) And then it all boils down to what you would wish for. Some would probably say to end world hunger, or say to have world peace, just to justify that one person's death. But does that make the person evil? Justifying that one death, of probably the lowliest person in the world? Most would answer yes, since the person wishing was being selfish to justify his/her moral dilemma.
To me, yes I would take the wish, and my wish would be that I never had the wish, henceforth creating a paradox, where the person doesn't die because I never had the wish, but s/he has to since I made a wish
Like I said, it's all about what you wish for.

Depends on who dies. There are some people in this world I'd gladly off and not need a wish granted in return for it. Any gain beyond their removal from the world would be a plus :)

As for people I personally know or a random stranger no. I would not take that deal. No matter what you accumulate you have to be able to look yourself in the mirror in the morning and know that you are a good person. No amount of personal gain could compensate for the loss of that. If you hate yourself you hate your life and money only changes the nature of your misery but still leaves you miserable.

I'll admit it would be tempting. You could stop world hunger, disease, war, or all three at the cost of one life instead of millions. But in the end, nobody has ever accomplished anything truly good, by starting out doing something truly evil. The only way to make that work for me would be sacrifice- if I were the person who died, then I'd feel okay about making such a wish. Terrified, but at least not guilty.

If it was my life or his, and he/she wasn't someone I cared about, I might. But probably wouldn't. We never can be sure of such things until we've lived through them. That's why most people are so good at writing ideal scripts for others, and judging them without understanding.
