What is up with these kids wanting to have sex so dang early?.....I see so many questions on here, about these children having sex. Do they or you know you have a lifetime to do that?...Be a kid, enjoy life, enjoy being a kid. remember you can only be a child once. And then sure people grow up. I don't understand why some kids want to grow up way too fast.

I was the youngest in my family by 11 years from the generation when aunties and uncles had children in the 70's. So yes I am an 80's babie.

Growing up was very difficult. I saw my brothers and cousins go through puberty, have boyfriends and girlfriends, drive, have jobs, go out with their friends while i was still in elementary school.

I saw them go to college, graduate, move away and start families by the time i was even remotely done with highshcool.

What im trying to say is, many kids want to go up fast because of all the restrictions that are placed on them compared to the older kids and what they see on the media and television. I hated not being able to hang out with my brothers at the arcade or play soccer with them for fear i would get run over by the stampede. For that reason i grew up fast.

Kid's do enjoy being kids heck they are not even aware what it's like to be an adult. They have sex because of what they watch on tv, what their friends say, and they listen to whatever the guy says. Guys can be very very pursuasive and good with words to get a 14 year old into bed, trust me i was in that position but i dumped the guy. Mostly those kid's dont know the consequences for their actions yet, that that one orgasm could lead to a lifetime of problems.

I agree, but what can be done about it? All those kids in middle school having sex are really naive and ignorant, yet think they know enough to be doing very mature things, sex being one of them.

Its really the culture though and parental involvement. If the parents are doing their jobs, the kid won't even be able to get access to someone to have sex. And what is really disturbing is that many of those young girls having sex aren't doing it with boys their own age, rather withs boys as old in their mid twenties. So, where are the parents?

The blame can only be put on the kids so much, true they should be more responsible, but the culture and really the lack of parental involvement is what leads those young people to be having sex so early. It really is sad, but what can be done about it?

Ultimately, us teenagers feel we can do anything we want and we feel that nothing can stop us. We also get mislead by the promises of birth control from many sources, including school, public service announcements, and now MTV has a deal with Trojan to air condom ads to go along with the Real World, where hooking up is part of the show. So we see sex so often and no matter what we're gonna want to do what we see.

Honestly, I was 15 when I had my first experience. I wouldn't take it back either.

While most parents can be blamed for kids having sex, a lot of it has to do with being taught safety. My parents never did, but I was lucky enough to have a school that, with signed permission slip, gave me all the instruction I'll ever need.

It scared me in a good way, and while my parents never knew what I was up to, I always made sure I was safe.

More teenage pregnancy has a lot to do with ignorance than you may think. Abstinence *is* 100 percent effective, but without arming everyone with knowledge of how to protect yourself, these kids fly off the handle into dumb situations.

Kids are going to do what they want- and there really isn't a way to stop them. I was really oppressed as a kid, and as soon as I was able ran out to expierience every warped thing I could. Nothing illegal or stupid, just tried to make my life less sheltered.

It's all part of growing up- it happens in every generation.

Once thought of being a scapegoat by morality zealots now bears evidence the moralists may have been right:

The MEDIA today exposes our kids to way too much adult behavior and bedroom romping than was shown in my day growing up pre-Internet and pre-Video Game.

Responsible parents should make good use of parental controls on the Internet AND on TV--where the latter offers smart chip or "V" chip techonology.....and keeps innocent eyes and ears away from stuff they don't need exposure to till they're 18.

Just a comment on Dune, there is lots of sex and violence in the later books. (And I didn't enjoy them at all really.) Ender's Game --Orson Scott Card This is the classic science fiction book for ages 12-16. Little kid is a genius and has to save the world, that sort of thing. It can even stand up to some literary analysis.

Sadly, this is the norm. Sex is such a huge focus in this culture that most can't wait to see what the fuss is all about.

Some kids do it to feel loved or get attention from another person.

I can't believe it when I read that 12 and 13 year olds are having sex. Where the hell are the parents???

I don't know either. I'm fourteen and wish I wasn't. I want to act like a kid and not have to present myself "properly". I couldn't imagine getting pregnant now. And some girls are getting pragnant at eleven and twelve. I will not have sex until I am in love and married.
