(x + 9/2)² - 81/4

take the midterm 9y divide it by the square root of the first term (y in this case) to get 9
take 1/2 of 9 and square it (9/2 = 4.5 squared is 20.25 = 81/4 ) so you need to add 20.25 to complete the square.

y^2+9y+20.25 or y^2 + 9y + 81/4

you cannot get a perfect square, so multiply everything by 4

4y^2+36y+81
