He"s been very busy lately committing all the terrible acts attributed to him. So he just don't have time to go get a warrant. Got to get out the black bag and go. Has to be back by dinner to make a Hurricane.

They've given him the power to tap phone conversations without obtaining a court's permission, where one party is an overseas terror suspect. The law sunsets in six months, so the debate will continue from there.
No it's not a concession I think the president needs or should have. It passed, apparently, because, after having gotten a few concessions, some democrats decided that letting it go for six months and taking the issue up again later was good enough for now, if it meant they didn't have to work during their vacation.
If that's the case, I hope the party considers carefully whether it needs them.

Of course he is breaking the law. Nixon's crimes seems like child's play compared to this regime. Torture and rendition, not allowing congress to review Bush's policies in case of a terrorist attack.... Bush had been spying on Americans for years. None of these criminals are getting punished for their crimes. Alberto Gonzales should be the first to go. These criminals don't follow any of the law but let an American pile up some parking or traffic tickets and they will be treated like a hardcore criminal. The sad truth is the amount of willfully ignorant Americans that hide their heads in the sand. The ones that mention Al Qa'ida and the "Terrorist" as an excuse or justification to loose our God given freedoms and liberties are the biggest fools. The ones that wave Chinese made American flags singing about how free we are are an embarrassment . I am glad more American are waking up to the truth, but not nearly enough. Please pray for this country, we have lost our souls.

Bush has acknowledged the NSA program monitors Americans' international phone calls and e-mails without court authorization, but says the program only targets communications where one side or the other has suspected terrorist connections. I just wish we would of had these protocalls in place in The United States when terrorists were attending flight school on American soil in Florida. Maybe we would of been able to prevent 9/11. Who knows. I say tap my phone, read my e-mails and protect my children.

Well actually the 4th amendment says " unreasonable search"
Isn't it reasonable to tap the phone conversations of suspected terrorist living outside the United States, even though they call a US phone number ?
It already legal to tap a suspected terrorist living outside the US, who calls a non US phone number.
Now they are just giving permission to tap all the suspected terrorist phone calls, who lives outside the US.
The law doesn't apply to phone calls originated in the United States.

No. They just have this wacky idea that terrorists use phones to pass information. You can rest assured that they have to have a very good case in order to tap your phone.

It may not be "right" but it is reality. And what I think or believe matters very little. Welcome to reality. A bigger question, if you think this is happening, is what are you willing to do about it? Get educated and participate.
