#1
7x^2 + 8x = 0
x(7x + 8) = 0
Product of two quantities = 0.
So at least one of them must be = 0.
Hence, either x = 0 or (7x + 8) = 0
i.e. either x = 0 or x = -8/7
Ans: x = 0, -8/7

#2
3y^2 + 5y - 2 = 0
3y^2 + 6y - y - 2 = 0
3y(y + 2) - 1(y + 2) = 0
(y + 2)(3y - 1) = 0
With same logic as above either (y + 2) = 0 or (3y - 1) = 0
i.e. either y = -2 or y = 1/3
Ans: y = -2, 1/3

Question 1
x (7x + 8) = 0
x = 0 , x = - 7 / 8

Question 2
3y² + 5y - 2 = 0
(3y - 1) (y + 2) = 0
y = 1 / 3 , y = - 2
