I am about 14 years old. And it started a while ago. Like a year ago. Iuno. Once every 1-2 months, I have this pain in my stomach. I know its not a cramp or a stomach ache. I think it might be ulcers. I cant really describe the symptom. The pain is off and on. I heard that if you dont eat when your supposed to, you'd have ulcers. So if I eat more often, will the 'ulcers' go away? If its not ulcers, can anyone help me find out what it is? Is this unnormal for a 14 year old to have ulcers? What can I do to help treat it?

Go to the doc and get it checked out.
In the 80's and early 90's, it was widely believed that ulcers were caused by increased stomach acid and stress, but it is now known that a majority are caused by an infection of the stomach lining by a bacteria known as Helicobacter pylori.
Fortunately, this is easily treatable with antibiotics.
See the doc....get it checked out...and take the pills.
Simple as that.

If it is an ulcer, you should have a sharp, burning pain that may last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes at a time, and it shouldn't constantly hurt. Also, if it's an ulcer, the pain should only be in one specific area, rather than a whole region of your abdomen. You should go see a doctor because they can prescribe something that should calm it down. Even OTC medicines such as pepcid should help (that's what my doctor told me to take, and it helps a lot). Ulcers can be caused by excessive stress (like in my case), or if you take a lot of aspirin or ibuprofen, or any kind of NSAID for pain, these can also erode the lining of your stomach/digestive tract and cause an ulcer.

It's not abnormal to have an ulcer at 14, they're just more common in older folks. I started feeling symptoms of mine around age 15.

Actually ulcers can happen at nearly any age, it is an over production of stomach acids, usually caused by stress, some times it is just something screwy with the body. My brother had them (non-stress related) when he was about 14, but it went away.

My best recommendation, tell your parents or guardian. go see a doctor. if it is ulcers they can get a lot worse than cramps.

even if they are not it could be any number of things many of which are serious.

Go see a doctor, don't blow it off, you will be better for it.

Best of luck.

Does it just hurt, or is it a burning pain? As far as I know, a burning pain is typical of ulcers. Since it keeps coming back I would ask a doctor, just to make sure everything is okay. Ulcers are caused by bacteria, I don't think eating differently would get rid of them--maybe just let them heal if anything. They would probably give you a prescription.

If you think its ulcers get it checked! If you let it go too long it could get worse

I was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, June 25, 2007. I let the symptoms go on for years, this past Jan/Feb they got worse and new symptoms arised. i told my parents and now i am seeing tons of doctors but they said if i had waited, it couldve gotten worse and i would be in the hospital a bit more than i am now.

Ulcers are often caused by bacteria usually u can take medication to get rid of them. also they can be caused by stress. anything stressing you out? take time to reflect the days nothing is really worth stressing or worrying over because everything is eventual

Good Luck Buddy
