I'm an Angels fan, but I recognize the power that the Red Sox bring to the plate. I still wonder why Francona didn't put in a pinch hitter and left the rookie in after Ortiz. That could have made a big difference.

The Red Sox made many mental mistakes. The first was having ManRam getting thrown out in the 4th over a check swing. The next was Schilling making a rookie mistake in trying to field Vlad chopper up the middle. Finally was Francona's decision to 1) let Schilling stay in the game and 2) keep him in til the seventh inning. By having Manny argue with the plate ump, it could have affected the way some calls went against the Sox.
I think the Angels played a very good game and it was one that the Sox could have had if they were not batting 1-11 with runners in scoring position

Schilling got hammered on hanging breaking balls. The Red Sox effectively worked the counts and had Weaver over 100 pitches by the 5th inning. Unfortunately, the Red Sox had threats in about 4 different innings and repeatedly failed to get a timely hit off of Weaver, Speier, Shields and even the great K-Rod. Maybe if it had been Manny instead of Brandon Moss with two on and two out in the ninth, there would have been a different result, but Rodriguez just toyed with him. I have seen Wakefield completely shut down the Angels and I have seen Vladi Guerrero get 9 RBIs in a game that Wakefield started. Red Sox Nation will be there. Just a little hoarser after last night's game

I was there. It was intense. Especially when Ortiz was up in the 9th. The entire crowd was on their feet. All you could hear was "Papi! Papi! Papi!" I swear! Red Sox fans get around! You would think you were at Fenway Park by the feeling. Amazing.
Schilling blew it, he isn't back into his old form yet. Manny getting thrown out didn't help either. That meant there was too much pressure on that Moss kid, and it was his first game. If it had been Manny he could have hit Pedroia and Papi in and changed the score.. Or even just tie it up and go into extra innings. Moss didn't handle the pressure well, and I don't blame him.
I love the Red Sox, I just wish that they would have won, I only get to see them once a year. (In person, I have NESN at home yay DirectTV, Red Sox every day! <33)
All in all, interesting game and a good day overally. Fun.

Love it! A while back I heard all the Red Sox fans saying how the Yankees could not possibly catch them. Guess who is looking over their shoulder now. 50 games left! Sorry Sox fans, were going to get you again. :)
As for Toodeemo's response, they know the sound better than anybody cause they hear it every year! lol !

Great game all around, but the Red Sox hitters were too patient at the plate later in the game. They took too many pitches and got themselves in bad counts and swung at "pitcher's pitches" (ie 0-2, 1-2 balls).
Wakefield takes the mound Tues, and should get a win to even the series.

Francona needs to get his head out of his butt and realize when you should take a pitcher out. He has done this quite a few times lately, where he leaves the pitcher in too long and puts his team in a hole and you can't do that against a team like the Angels. I know Schilling had a low pitch count, but you could tell he was running out of gas and we know what happens when he runs out of gas, he leaves a hanger. Schilling also needs to learn how to cover first base. That was a key play which eventually led to two runs. i think Schill threw a good game though, considering it was his first one back.
no Yankee fans, we are not nevous in Red Sox nation, because we know what our future schedule looks like and we also know what yours looks like. Advantage: Boston.

it extremely is ability. The Angels had an exceptionally tight protection, enormously key performs like Sarge Jr. choosing off Coco's ability homer to Gary Anderson and Cabrera gunning down Lowell at residing house. The Angels found out Wakefield and did a enormously stable variety on him by potential of adjusting the change hitters to the wonderful suited element. stable pastime.

GREAT GAME!
Good pitching duel for awhile. I though Schilling and Weaver both looked great. Both pictured made a few mistakes that cost them the win.
Angels just know how to find a way to win. They take advantage of the other teams mistakes.
Izturus's home run was key. He found a way to hit Schilling.
This is going to be on great series between #1 in East and #1 in West
Enjoy the games!

Schilling's velocity was still low - I am worried that he is not going to be effective the rest of the year. I wonder how damaged his hand/finger is from that chopper he tried to bare-hand.
They left 11 on base... not good.
The Umps affected the game too much, strike zone was not only inconsistent but way too low and outside. I didn't like that call against Lowell and Tek. Still we had opportunities and just never capitalized.
Moss disappointed, clearly he was intimidated and not mentally prepared for the situation.
