i think that there have been many changes of course. in sum aspects they have more respect but in others they have less.
women in work have much more respect. there r women in politics, women who r astronauts, women who r construction workers, etc. jobs that women couldnt have in the 50's & 60's they can have now. a woman is running 4 president w/ a reasonable chance of winning. still, though, women can b teachers, nurses, secretaries, & all the jobs they used 2 have 2 have. women now have many more rights, but i dont no if they have equal rights as men yet.
women r still portrayed in the media as mostly just stupid bimbos who care only abt sex & drugs & partying. look at paris hilton, lindsay lohan, nicole richie, britney spears, tara reid, etc. the list goes on. in the news & the media, & evn in movies, its the woman who's seen as the dumb 1. the guy is the hero mostly. its getting better, there r now movies that center the woman as the heroine. however, things like "girls gone wild" just make things worse. i cant imagine all the 'drunk' girls who woke up the next day, found out they were on ggw the night b4, then wanted 2 commit suicide bcuz they didnt no how 2 tell any1. as a guy, i cant do much abt this, but if sumhow women can stand up, maybe they could get things turned around, but i'd b hard considering we, the public, seem 2 want sex. we seem 2 want the pain & suffering. im a teenager, but i dont get it. y r so many ppl following the crowd on this topic?
in conclusion, i think women have more respect in the law, politics, & in work. they dont have more respect in the media.

MORE!!! As compared to the 70s, we have much more. At that time, many were still trying to deal with the conflict between the 50s housewife and the 60s free-loving free thinker. I think we have since embraced the later, more correct view, and women have more respect because of it. Many woman have climbed the corporate ladder with strife (regardless of the discriminatory difference in pay); they are sadly still seen as a sex symbol in the media, but it is evenly balanced with powerful women in various other arenas; many women (especially outside of America) hold top seats in government hierarchies; and finally (a subject that I feel strongly about) woman are often favored in legal hearings based on the simple fact that we have been so mistreated in the past AND women enter the center of judiciary domains just as often as men. We are, at the base level, equal to, if not more respectful, than men.

Nothing much has changed except visibility, mainly through media.Men shall continue to view women based on 'purpose-specific' basis ie first the end use then their suitability for it.Like, if a sexual object is required, they shall search, find and select a woman for it and so on.
