i know that anti-americanism is running high all over the world. A survey done by time magazines shows that more and more people from other countries are embracing anti-americanism. I was talking to some French friends of mine, they said they got excited when they saw American flags burning on news.

I always get excited when I see the stars and stripes burning! For far too long the Almighty USA has been shoving 'democracy' down everyones throat, then doing very undemocratic things on the side. Americans as a rule seem pretty decent people, but the bad side of you guys is this absolute conviction that your actions are right! I feel sorry for those kids being sent of to Iraq etc... coming home in body bags to their poor families. Bomb Saudi Arabia (breeding ground of Osama and company), get it over and done with and stop dragging the rest of the world into your greedy little (and dirty) grab for control of the worlds resources. Haven't you learned from Vietnam? This is a war you will never win until you find those that committed the 911 acts. But what if it was remotely possible that this was committed by your own government against you. Hell W had a nasty reputation of excuting his own citizens in Texas, what makes you think that he won't come after you next? He didn't give a damn about New Orleans, he'll take you all to hell with him if you don't get rid of him. The world has HAD ENOUGH of you yanks telling us what to do! Get W out of power and you still have a chance of maintaining friends in the world. The USA is not the land of opportunity, its the land of wasted dreams and broken promises. We don't buy it anymore guys... AMERICA IS ON THE ROAD TO HELL!!!

No, we don't. We're not by any means perfect and have much to live down, but we do try. We could and need to become better, but we are too tough on ourselves sometimes and need to take a look around the World and see how much worse we could be.

There are people who really do hate us, but they are the enemies of Civilization as a whole.

There are a lot of people in the Third World, who are justifiably angry at us. But they are angry because they remember what we stand for, even when we don't We tend to help the regimes who oppress them rather than help them win their freedom. And that leaves us without allies when those regimes fall.

Our friends, the Canadians, the Brits, the Germans, the Italians and even the French spend a lot of time being embarassed for us and the things we do to ourselves.

But, more important than who likes or hates or is mad at us is who trusts us. Not too long ago, even people who hated us came to us to settle their disputes, because we had a reputation for fairness.

Bush changed all that. The image the world now has of America is a large bore loose cannon. That's going to take a long time to recover from.

It's because some Americans flip flop...one day they love war , the next day they are ready to pull the money from the troops and leave them there without a way of defending themselves...or they vote for the war and cry because it's not progressing the way THEY think it should! You see most countries stick up for each other and show pride for their country but not here in america Some americans burn the flag....we are free to trash whoever for ANY reason even if the media dreams it up, or one party wants the white house so bad they'd trash their own government to get in........they don't understand how some Americans can be yo yo's on everything especially on their own people!

Americans, no. Our leaders, yes.

I know quite a few persons from France, and they claim that the protesters there are in the minority, and it's always the same people who show up at the protests. Also, most of the French persons that I know have scorn for our leaders, but they seem to love Americans. I am sure you can find plenty of French who hate us, just like you can find plenty of Americans who hate the French.

You do know that the French, and most other countries for that matter, do not exactly have squeaky clean hands with regards to wars, religion and politics? Not currently, and not if you study history.

Not America in general, but the leaders. Yeah, they should learn more about countries other than their own, but that isn't horrible or anything.
It should be the leaders, like Bush (Jr.), that should be hated. It's because of him that the anti-Americanism is flying high, since you said it's more recent.
I really don't care myself, all I know is that most public schools in the States aren't really all that educated when it comes to World education, it's all 'American geography', 'American History', etc. There's more to the world than America, and most schools just don't teach that unfortunately (I noticed that when I was living the States as a LEGAL alien - aka I was allowed to live in the States since I paid but I wasn't a real American citizen, from 5th-7th grade. Mainly 5th grade since 6 and 7th grade was in a private Christian school and because of one of our teachers being Canadian, thank God, all kids learned more than they were taught because he would teach what was required but also bring in world events somehow).
There are many things I don't agree with when it comes to American schools, like the No Child Left Behind thing. I'm no supporter of that in some ways (not all, just some). And it all boils down to the leader of the country.

So blame the leaders, not the people. That's it basically.

Sure we deserve to be hated. We are cruel mean and heartless.

The American government spends more giving aid to Third World Countries than the rest of the Industrialized Countries combined.

American Citizens donate more to charities benefiting Third World Countries than any other country's citizenry.

We have spent more in blood, and treasure to defend other countries than most of those countries spend on themselves.

And no country has opened its arms to more refugees than the United States.

Sure the rest of the world hates us. It would serve them right if we withdrew all our troops from all over the world and established a Fortress America and responded to any attack with devastating force.

But we won't do it. We will continue sticking up for the little people of the world. We will continue to feed the hungry, give medical attention to the sick, and welcome the downtrodden and oppressed. And the rest of the world will hate us for it.

The French hate us because they'd still be licking German boots if we had not liberated them in 1944.

The English and German socialists hate us because we are living, prospering proof that capitalism works better than socialism.

Screw 'em. Next time Europe is torn by war, I hope we sit it out since none of the Europeans apparently want us to interfere with the way they handle things.

One more thing, with French friends, you will never need enemies.

If America wasn't Self-Centered then it doesn't but it is. Most "Anti-American" groups arnt really Anti-American they just don't like the leaders and the selfishness. if the group doesn't like Americans in general then its just a group of racist people and we have a lot of that in the U.S.

Possibly some of the leaders, but in no way the people, even those who voted Republican in 2004.

But of course we don't deserve it. Honestly, it's just because people are mad that we invaded a supposed "stable country" that was stable on its own before we went there, but it wasn't. If it's not about war (and the lack of knowledge of what's really going on over there and all of the positive things happening, but just aren't appearing on the news), then it's just because countries are jealous of our lifestyles, economy , and overall sexy people, lol.
