Whenever a man slaps or punches a woman he is seen as an abuser and batterer. Yet if a woman picks up an object that is more ddangerous than throwing fists on a man no one sees her as an abuser and batterer. The same excuses that people wont buy for male violence perpreted on women under certain provoking circumstances is more acceptable for women to use against men.

Gender bias is alive & thriving in America...but much of it is implicit. Women are still seen as the physically weaker, emotionally weaker sex. Therefore, when a man hits a woman, it seems like a worse offense than if the reverse occured. Many feel that a woman beating up a man is comical...funny, odd, and unexpected. She can be an angry, spiteful, violent monster, but still be seen as the weaker one in the conflict.

Men are still viewed, implicitly & explicitly, as the stronger sex. Therefore a man beating his wife to a pulp is treated as more of an atrocity in the courts(and in the community) than if a woman did the same to her husband.

I can't explain why this stigma is so blatantly ingrained in our legal system...perhaps you could consult the Law section of Answers for a more technical response.

Historically, some people in certain areas and times, have been more equal than the others.Magnitude by,there are more wife batterers than husband abusers in any society ,men being stronger and having a sort of social acceptance for wife battering. Comparatively, an act of a woman, picking and throwing even a dangerous object is less dangerous due to their POOR AIM and all the chances of missing the target than a man slapping a woman.Yes,I whole heatedly support EQUALITY and women need to train and practice more to achieve it.
