Your tank will be cloudy for a while. Any time you set up a new tank or add a lot of new water the tank will be cloudy for a while. You should wait a few weeks before adding fish when you first set up a tank so your fish don't die from new tank syndrome. Don't worry so much. The main mistake people make with aquariums is by messing with them too much. You should do a 15-20% water change " with a vacuum " every 2-3 weeks and change your filter only when needed so you don't destroy the biological filter every tank needs in order for the fish to survive. Also, when you change the filter, change one thing at a time..what I mean is, change the foam pads and next time change the filter...if you have foam pads in front of your filter. Give it a week or so and the cloudiness will subside. That is WAY too much. You shouldn't even feed them as much as it states on the container. Feed them no more than once a day...I would recommend feeding them every other day... add an amount that will be consumed in 5 minutes. Trust me, this is enough for them. Overfeeding is a huge mistake people make. They will live well on what I've told you plus keep your take healthy.

Because it has not yet built up the beneficial bacteria in the filter to eat the crap that is making the tank foggy.
Yes, it hurts the fish, more or less.
Go to your pet store and ask if they can spare a lil chunk of dirty filter medium for you to put in your filter to "colonize" it. Or just wait. As your fish die the filter will get colonized by their bacteria. Then you can buy more fish. Some might live though.

First off, when you get a new tank you should clean it thoroughly and rinse well...let dry.
You should always use water that has sat for at least 24 to 48 hrs. I use two liter bottles...also add the aquarium water treatment drops in the water when you set it to age. I can't remember the name of them.
Putting the fish in right away can be harmful...depends on the species, some can handle most anything while others seem to die for no apparent reason.
Usually, since the fish come in a plastic baggie from the store, place them, baggie and all, into your tank ( that has been properly set up.
Now, most fish require a filter and oxygen bubble supply to re-oxygenate the water...goldfish and a few other species excluded.
I would suggest, removing the fish into a large container...and reset up your tank...and if necessary, get a filtration system.
Good luck with your fishies...

If you got a tank with fishes, you seriously need a filter that have enough space to host bio-media for the bacteria to live.
If you don't have a filter, your tank water will probably be permanently foggy and with dangerously high level of Ammonia which is toxic to your fishes.

It is because the water is not the same temperture or near the temperture of the room. I think your house is too cold and the heat from the water is losing it causing it too fog. This will only hurt your fish is the water is too cold other than that i think your fine.
get a thermometer and check the temp of the water and the house.
