Wal-Mart also gets an unusual amount of subsidies from the government (over a billion dollars), shuts down small businesses, drives property values down, exports jobs to China, gives horrible working conditions to sweatshop workers, and shuts down schools, police stations, and others.

I just saw the eye-opening "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price."

EXCUSE ME, I NEVER shop at Wal-Mart. My family loves to go there, but I REFUSE to buy a single thing there. Creates more jobs? Are you talking about the ones that get transferred to China?

NO subsidies? Are you kidding? Cities "donate" over a $100,000 to Wal-Marts, but nothing to local business owners.

I forgot how Wal-Mart often recommends that its workers go on welfare or Medicaid.

I agree Wal-Mart is horrible. Not only do they get handouts from the government, but they also use our tax dollars to subsidize their substandard wages by making their workers have to rely on welfare and Medicare to survive. That's such a disgusting example for such a huge and successful company. I'm glad that they are not doing as well in terms of sales.

How long will it take before they merge with a bunch of other department, discount stores, and supermarkets before we have no choice but to buy their CRAP at whatever price they choose? I thought monopolies were supposed to be outlawed!

What you have pointed out is true and when the PNAC and NWO are finished with their plans Wal - Marts current practices will make them a much better workplace than many. Once we are just another pawn in the one world government we will be reduced to 3rd world standards. This is avoidable but time is running out. As for shopping there, I have never been inside a Wal-Mart.

easily, if low end workers began creating so plenty greater, the value of things and amenities could skyrocket. this is stated as inflation. So if minimum salary is $sixteen an hr case in point, then a $a million hamburger at McDonalds could now value $2 or $2.50. which you're able to make $sixteen an hour, yet while it buys the comparable, then all it extremely is is a distinctive variety to stay the comparable way.

In my opinion shopping at Walmart is no different than going to the Flea Market.
Everything is made as cheaply as possible and the prices are the same.
The employees hardly ever know any English and the isles are crammed with merchandise making walking through the store almost impossible and even the advertisements you hear all over the store are in Spanish.
And no one ever knows anything so if you have any questions your better of figuring them out for yourself.
And waiting in line takes forever because the cashiers are as slow as turtles.
Then you have to show your receipt at the door as they look at your purchases and that really irritates me.
Sure you save allot of money shopping at Walmart but is the aggravation and irritation really worth it?
They have somehow managed to make shopping an absolute nightmare for consumers and I think they do it on purpose because no one is that stupid to think that customers actually enjoy what they have to go through just to shop.
Someday if Walmart were to go out of business like Gemco did I would do the happy dance and celebrate with a bottle of Champagne.
I hate it there that much.

Walmart is not my cup of tea, but the prices are considerably less than most stores and there are plenty of people who need to scrimp on everything they buy. Because of Walmarts cheap prices there are a lot of people that get more food, clothing, prescriptions, school supplies etc. that they would otherwise not be able to afford at other stores. So it does serve a purpose if you were to look at it from a poor persons view.

The reason there are 500 people applying for 50 jobs is because of NAFTA and other such programs that have outsourced 1000's of U.S. manufacturing and other jobs!!!!!

Wal-Mart IS destroying the American dream for many independent businesses everything from small family owned hardware stores and family owned grocery stores and family owned pharmacies and independently owned stores that provide everyday household items ....and the list goes on!!

Soon all we will have across the United States is franchises!!

It is a McJob to say the least. They treat their workers so bad that the illegals prefer to work in slaughter houses. The solution is to not work there. The work force is desporate for several skills. A college degree is not even needed. These skills include computers, automotive electronics, truck drivers, and much more. Get a job some where else than Walmart and they will not be able to rip off their employees.

I would have to agree with you...however, America loves Wal-Mart! Sometimes they have the best price but not all the time...they get you with all the crap being in one place...what I hate is that you have to wait for 30 minutes in line b/c there are no cashiers! I try not to shop here in Odessa...I go to Target...it might be more, but I don't have all the Mexicans and lines to deal with...and before you start yelling "foul" at me...I"m Mexican American...meaning...I"m 3rd generation.

Love, Peace, and MExican grease!

That's what you get when you have a big fish eat little fish law of the jungle economy.

Eventually after the competition is run out of business, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Those who own stock are doing good. Those who lost their jobs to outsourcing and now have to work for Wal-Mart are doing worse.

Dude, they're everywhere. They're in small towns and often in you live in the small town you can't get other speciality stores to come to your town and if you need it now you have to get it from Wal-mart. You also forgot to yell at the other big-box-marts like target and kmart, but then again they aren't as everywhere as wal-mart.
