There was no vote by American people to withdraw. There may have been a poll conducted privately; there may have been a motion on Senate floor, but there was no vote.
Conservatives have never said they would directly pay for the war. It was agreed to by Congress that the war's budget would be appropriated as it progressed. On September 12, 2001, no one was arguing about who was going to pay for getting revenge.
Strange thing about tax cuts you complain about: the government is taking in MORE money than ever before in tax revenue.
Don't let the truth slow you down...

I am conservative and was against going to war dispite some very good reasons to go. However, once congress votes to go they should not cut and run. Tax cuts have been shown to increase revenue. People will invest and create wealth if excessive taxes do not kill their incentive to do so. Tax cuts worked for Kennedy and Reagan. In the case of Reagan very large tax cuts increased revenue dramaticaly. Unfortunately, spending went up even more dramatical causing huge deficits. However, some of the money was well spent bankrupting the Soviets who could not keep up with our military spending. Gorbachov said that when Reagan walked out of Rykovick that was the end of the Soviet Union. Even now we are spending more than we are taking in. Back to the war. We like our wars short and sweet like Grenada. Bush has been blamed for going to war to steal oil, knocking down the twin towers, and even for a rainy day. Yes he was even blamed for hurricane katrina which was supposedly caused by global warming.

Tax cuts and military spending promote economic growth. More money moving through the economy means more taxes being paid. So while each dollar may be taxed less more dollars are being taxed. That is how tax cuts increase revenue. Tax increases can be useful to curtail runaway inflation and slow economic growth. But revenues will fall if taxes are raised substantially. If you make business unprofitable then no one will do business. Jobs will be lost. The economy will suffer. When you tax the rich, they move to the bahamas and close up shop. You need to keep them in business. Keep taxes within reasonable limits. As for the war. It is American service members over there fighting, not just conservatives. This is your war, my war, our war. We all ought to be supporting their efforts and wishing them success and safety. I just don't understand the people that want to see our troops lose in Iraq. It sickens me. This country will find a way to give them what they need to succeed and when they are out of harm's way we will balance the cost. You want to help, buy some US Savings Bonds. Lend a little money to your uncle sam.

So, you were there in 2003 and you're calling it "their" war? Uh... dude, enjoy your education. It would be my hope that it is not one party's war.
When you were there did you get the sense that you could conduct an orderly withdrawal? I would bet we'll be there 10 years if not longer. So, suck it up and while you're at it and you're still an able bodied male... why don't you take up a rifle like a good little American and I'll see you on the high-ground.
To you it should not matter who's war it is. Your boys are over there. If that doesn't make you want to rotate back and fight until it's complete... like I said, enjoy your education.

There's always the printing press, for one.
I think the oil companies that are making record profits should donate to pay down the debt if they are true patriots.
The idea that tax cuts produce more revenue works to a point, but if you follow their logic, just cut out all taxes and we should be able to pay for the war, national health care, schools, and our infrastructure. That is voodoo economics.
I notice none of the right wingers could give you a straight and logical answer. They want to have their cake and eat it too and eat your cake too. And if they just cut all "entitlement" programs, as one proposed, we'll join some of the 3rd world countries as poverty spins out of control.
Remember most on welfare are children (whether the money actually goes to the kid rather than a used Cadillac is another issue) and single moms who can't afford daycare, or elderly, handicapped, and disabled.
And illegals do contribute to the economy. They work cheaply so that their employers can make record profits. If the employers are so patriotic, they could pay a few dollars more per hour and hire citizens, but that would cut into their profits.
Raising sales tax and cutting income tax could help a lot, since illegals, black marketeers, children, and tourists would be paying into revenues. They just need to exempt groceries and medicine, maybe cheap clothing.
It will probably take a Dem. pres. to start cutting our deficit again, and s/he'll be criticized constantly for making people pay, so since I'm almost 50, maybe I'll be able to check out before the next generations who will wonder why they're still paying for wars from decades ago, just like we're still paying for Reagan's arms race.

The tax cuts were to woo over the American people. Although my tax cut amounted to 0 dollars more or less. My son-in-law, who makes 200,000 more or less was soooo happy with his tax cut.
We don't have to worry about paying for the war. We are just selling our country to the Asian countries in the form of bonds & T-bills. someday, those countries are going to cash-in those bonds. When that happens, the American people will realize what the war actually cost America.
Be ready for a huge, huge shock.

That's why they plan to nominate some bozo who will loose. that way they can sit on their butts and complain while someone else takes the blame for the tax increases and depression they will be leaving in their wake. Cheyney will take off with several boatloads of cash to Dubai and live in the worlds tallest building Osama built for him.

Heck, whats another 4 TRILLION to Republicans? It isn't their money for the most part!
Giliathriel, it is the states responsibility to fix the roads, and all get federal highway funds! Perhaps a better question is how are they using the money?

Good question! Anyone that brings up tax increase is labeled a communist or socialist, so the only options I can think of are growing money trees, laying it on future generations and privatizing our highways and infrastructures so they can be sold to domestic and foreign interests.
