It depresses everyone. It informs you so you won't be a dumb @ $$.

Talk to her about something else you could do together. Just tell her how you feel. Maybe you could read the same book and talk about it, or have breakfast together every week or watch a movie instead. Focus on how you could spend more productive happier time together!

Well you should tell your mom I don't want to watch the news because it's not something I would want to watch i'm sorry but i'm telling the truth.

Stop eating as much, sleep a lot, start crying out of nowhere, experiment with drugs, etc. When she questions your behavior, tell her "it's because you make me watch the news, and I'm like... all sad & stuff."

Just kinda say it casually as you watch the news, "This is all very depressing. I don't like it. ...Perhaps we should find a different hobby?"
It's seriously what I'd do.

just tell your mum straight out that the news depresses you. she should understand. then suggest another activity or show show you could be involved in together
