It has a lot to do with human psychology. As Yoda said, the dark side is not more powerful, but it is quicker, easier, more seductive.

And it's true, it is far easier to give in to one's passions, devil-may-care for the consequences as long as my goals are met and I'm happy, rather than go through the hard work and concentration in order to attain the same goals. As a result, the dark-side appears more powerful, but mainly because the degree of power open to them - at the cost of becoming Sith of course - is far greater than a light-sider who would be at the same level.

Jacen Solo tried to follow the belief that therefore, it's all just a matter of control and allowed himself to gain more power by following his passions - as long, he rationalized, as he was in control and was responsible - he's Darth Caedus now and just finished killing Mara Jade. Shocking that someone with Mara's power would fall to someone junior. Why? because Jacen was with the dark side.

It's also why you only have a handful of light-siders who can cast force lighting - Yoda, Luke, Mara (I think), and Kyp Durron (Jacen, being Dark now doesn't count). While with the exception of Maul, everyone else was casting lighting (In theory, Darth Vader should have been able to cast lighting, but since he was mostly cybernetic at the time that he became master, he was "cut-off" from some levels of the force so he doesn't count either).

Because of human weakness (caused by suffering), basically not being able to cope with life's difficulties healthily. The Dark Side feeds into a person's unresolved baggage (and vice versa).

If a person is centered and does the necessary inner work, they become strong enough to stand in the Light, and fight the Dark Side.

Because it rooted by anger, and anger is so much more of an emotion than righteous and there is so much tension and pressure making an overload of power and will. But the thing is is that anger while very mighty in its time is very short lived while good and justice lasts longer and eventually wins at the end.
