I think it was taken out of context. Everytime someone says something nowadays the race card is pulled. Also to say you know he is racist just because there were no sistas in the game is only how you perceive it. Everyone needs to learn how to ignore stupid remarks others make and just go on with it. If you let comments get in your way then you are letting the person who said it have satisfaction knowing it got to you. Did he notice her messing with her hair and it getting in her face you said it was long? Maybe he should have just said hair. You yourself said she had a weave so actually it is just a fact that she has a weave so how is that racist. If he made her feel that uncomfortable she should have addressed the situation immediately after the practice. Went up to him and told him that she didn't appreciate the comment.

Racism, I see none of that.
Just because she was told she is a bad player wearing a "multi color weave" doesn't make it a rasist remark. Even a black coach would have said the same stuff. May be he was rude but that doesn't make it a racist; besides: What kind of coach isn't rude somehow? they are all like that, it's not easy to lead a team, and leadership sometimes require to say people what they do wrong even if they don't like it.
And yes I would find distracting a "multi color weave", even anoying if it is a very cheap looking one.
So tell your friend to don't use race as an excuse for she not knowing how to play.

The coach could be right. Her weave could very well be distracting as it is with any girl who has long hair for whatever reason.. I don't think you can call this racist. You're the one that's assuming that only black people can have weaves.
Listen, be a Christian, don't worry about this. Now if he's blaspheming at a Christian school, that's another thing, but seeking out conflict and trying to confront him on this is probably going to backfire and get your cousin nowhere.

There was NO racist remark in his comment - look again at what what said - The ONLY comment was about the color of the " weave " not her/him or anything regarding their Race,Creed or anything else that could be misrepresentative to their comment - he was saying that because of the mixture of colors in her ' HAIR " was distracting. Please do not make accusations about someone making racist remarks when the proof is not there - it can cause far more problems in the long run - especially if he were to see your comment. And to accuse him of being a racist is highly presumptuous is it not? You are seeing far too many ghost into this environment, I'd be careful on your choice of words and actions - they will always come back to haunt you.

how do you know that it is racism. That could be the same thing as telling someone else that their pony tail was too high up on their head or something. No offense, but I am kinda tired of hearing everybody yell racism all the time. I am kind of numb to it now because people have beat it into the ground. I think that maybe your cousin was just a little upset because she got called out for missing shots.
I think maybe everyone should just stop being so touchy.. how is everyone supposed to be seen as equal when you have to constantly be cautious of what you say to "certain" people. I am part Americal Indian and if I had had my hair in braids and he told me that I should loosen my braid I wouldnt have thought anything about it.. Would that be racist?

That is not racists. For example if he told someone to cut there bangs and get it out of there eyes because it is distracting to your game. Your cousin did have a multi color weave. Just a statement.

First of all, if you thought he was racism, you should have reported him. There are a lot of teams that don't have sister's on them so that don't make the coach racism. There will always be some kind of racism in this world, but as christians we must pray that the good Lord will move all hatred. If your coach is a racism and what he said made you feel that way. report him. But pray about it first and ask the Lord to guide you in your answer.

How is saying fix your weave racist? I'm a black man and I'm getting sick and tired of blacks playing the victim and always wanting someone to feel sorry for them. Just like the Don Imus incident was made into a racial thing and not once did he mention a particular race. Answer this for me OK; If I'm the coach of a football team and one of my guys make a mistake and I say to him what were you thinking are your braids to tight would that be racist too. White women wear weaves too you know. Geesh.

Not totally sure it was racism. but need more info. U said she had only a long multi color weave. that actually could be a distraction. but if its short could. the multi color may and i mean may cause a lil distraction. but first things first. what was a coach using that kind of language in the first place. no matter if they wer 12//18. thats messed up and at a Christian camp. talk to the directors. mayb he shouldnt be helping anyone at such a camp. Even at work u dont go there and their payin me. keep us informed lady. God Bless You

Racism hides in many people, even they may or may not know that they have racist behaviors or make racist remarks.
If I were you, I and my cousin would confront him. (depending on how young you are, you might want to have an adult there in case) and tell him how racist you believe his comment was and why. Don't back down to racists, it will never go away if you do.
I've had to deal with this my whole life.
Trust me, I've been able to change many people views, by just bringing their behavior to thier face.
*and to many of you guys who don't think it's racist, then why couldn't he have just suggested that she do her hair an other way next game? Why did he have to point out that it was a weave? The coach's whole behavior was wrong*
