My hubby is anti pet. Considering that he was born in a poverty stricken country, he finds it odd that people would pamper animals, let them sleep in bed with them, and spend countless dollars on their well being.

Yes. They were from an abusive home. As a child the parents would lavish love and affection on the family dogs, but then would be very abusive to the child. The mom even went as far as to pretend the dogs were talking smack to the child, (giving it an audible voice & moving its mouth back and forth) making the child hate the animal even more. She was very jealous at the dogs and when she grew up she hated any and all dogs. Maybe the people who feel having pets is wrong have some horrible experience from their past that makes them believe that owning pets is bad.

Yes. A lot. Pet birds are kept in a cage and often they lack freedom to have their good food, mating and all kinds of enjoyment.
Pet are not cared and fed properly. For most people they are keeping pets for fancy and not for love of animals or birds.
Dogs and cats can disturb your health.( Breathing problems/ Asthma allergy etc) They may disturb the neighbours by attacking them or urinating . They are creating sounds and nuisance.
My self. I kept Dogs, Birds, Animals. Personally, I felt bad and decided not to keep any more pets.

Yes, I think PETA is against pet ownership, or that is what I have heard. At least some members of PETA are. I think also some people like to be referred to as pet parents rather than owners. Legally you can't get much money in court for the loss of a pet because it is considered property and people are trying to get that changed and I think it is a good idea to change that ruling because I know my pets are worth much more to me than what I paid for them.

Lots of people think that way. When people are starving in the world, and you are spending many times what it would cost to feed them on your little "Snookems," is that a good thing? And then, does your pet represent an extension of your family, or your need for love, protection, or companionship... is it about your pet, or is it about you? At the very least, there is a lot of debate material there.

Nope. But I can't imagine why on Earth anybody would think that. Adopting an animal is a wonderful thing to do for both the animal and you.
