Dig down about a foot around the post, making the hole three or four inchs bigger than the diameter of the post. Then build a small form about six inches high above ground, same diameter as the hole. Fill with concrete.

Ive had that problem also with wooden fence posts,what Ive been doing is replacing them with steel ones as they go bad.I sink them in about 18 inches and pour cement in the hole to keep them solid.
