Yes, I read most of it many years ago when I was in university but got bored part way through when I realized that as much truth as there was in some of what was being said and even though some of the ideas were good, the system would never work as long as people are individuals and have different ambitions, desires, addictions, dysfunctions and goals. This was evidenced in the communist regimes that followed. A classless society was never accomplished and the people were not happy.

i've read selected readings from Marx, but not the communist manifesto. One of the principles that I believe very strongly (though not entirely) in Marx is that all struggles spawn from economic struggles, to which i believe we should take a closer look. Something that might not need a closer look would be his labor theory of value, which seems to be right, but lacks alot of substance. by the way i cant believe there's so many noobs on here, but it takes skill to actually be good at errr the skill that needs not to be named, all i can say is they're DOING IT WRONG.

A government prof had us read it when I took a couple years of college. It was full of flowery idealistic thoughts. Just enough to snare an unsuspecting naive mind. Marx forgot to add the human factor. some will always rise to the top and some will always sink to the bottom. Most important of all, not all people want to be equal, as a matter of fact, most do not want to be equal, some want to excel.
Don't worry, once you are out of school, some time paying a mortgage and property taxes should serve to clear your head of these dizzyingly foolosh misconceptions.

I have yes.
Its not Marx's greatest work. In fact, its just propaganda.
If you want to really understand Marx and his ideas, read Das Kapital. Thats a good read if youre interested in Marx's economic theories.
He was a smart man, and he analyzed things correctly, but where he went wrong was when he delved into this romanticized, utopian "workers of the world unite" bullsh*t.

I spent 10 years of my life fighting communism, and yes it is worth the read. there has never been a true communist country, they have mostly been totalitarian socialist communist. real communist would be democratic by it's nature. it might work well somewhere but it has never been tried on a large scale

Karl Marx was one of the most brilliant men to walk the face of this earth. The Communism Manifesto and Das Kapital explain what a government should be.
However, Conservatives made it out to be something it's not, and now people think of it as evil, which it's not.

yup
interesting stuff. He understood capitalism very well.
But where he was wrong is human nature.
For true socialism(not that cartoon caricature you see on the US media) to work, people have to be essentially good at heart, charitable beings.
Humans are hairless chimps and we act like our cousins more often than not, nothing high minded about our nature. We are selfish, stupid and violent. That's what makes us human.
Still, thought provoking.

Yes, many years ago in school. Don't remember much, other than it was important at the time. That was back in the "cold war", we needed to understand the "other side".
