If it is a foreclosure situation you need to plan to move. If it is merely a sale, in most cases your lease will transfer with the sale.

depends on what your lease says. Most have wording that says your lease carries over to the new owner so you're safe until the new owner gives notice under the terms of the lease that you have to leave. Check over the lease. Sounds like either the owner didn't pay the mortgage, filed bankruptcy, or is waaaaaay overdue on Home Owners Association dues. If you can afford it, contact a real estate attorney and have them check out the situation real quick. Chances are any buyer might go ahead and let you stay if you're willing to negotiate a new lease.

Depending on the state you live in you should have 30 days to move and in some states the owner of the house you live in has to let you live there till you have a new address to miove to, and in some states the house owner has to pay for a hotel room and storage temporarily if you can't find a differnt place. Go to your counties family services department and grab a renters and owners guide for your answer in your state.

Wait. Why is it being auctioned?

Is it a voluntary auction?

Foreclosure?

Tax sale?

Judgement lien?

Were you given legal notice?

All that matters to determine whether your lease is extinguished or if it survives. You need to find out who is causing the auction, and call the local housing court.

If you have a lease, it remains in full force and effect. If you don't you probably should plan on moving if the new owner wishes to occupy the place themselves.
